Iran Threatens With Nukes

Iran is threatening the West with its nuclear weapons potential. According to the BBC,

Iran may stop allowing snap inspections of its nuclear facilities if it is referred to the UN Security Council, says the country's top negotiator.

Ali Larijani said Tehran would also consider pulling out of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT) if the "language of force" continues. …

The US and the EU are calling for Iran to be referred to the Security Council.

It is surprising that the EU has joined the US in calling for referral to the Security Council. Europe had been pursuing a “carrot without the stick” approach – in others words, bribe the Iranian terror-masters to play nice.

Clinton tried this approach with North Korea. Guess what? The Korean communists took the bribes and kept on developing nuclear weapons, despite promises to the contrary.

Maybe Europe is finally getting frightened about Iranian nuclear-tipped missiles reaching its soil. Maybe. Maybe not.

We are a long way off from Iran’s referral to the Security Council, where international sanctions could be imposed. Will Europe – and Russia – have the guts to follow through?

In the meantime, Iran now has a wacko, Islamist president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He has been very vocal in insisting that his country be allowed to continue development of doomsday potential. That is all we need: a nuclear-armed terrorist state, ready to hold the Western world hostage to its crazy ambitions. You know that all the “liberal” appeasers would be willing to pay any price to placate the Islamists. And then where will we be?
