EU Caves to Iranian Nuke Threats

As I expected, Europe has backed down on referring Iran’s nuclear activities to the UN Security Council: Britain, France and Germany yesterday retreated from their bid to report Iran's nuclear violations to the UN Security Council in face of opposition from Russia and fierce threats from Iran. A little saber-rattling by Iran’s terror-masters – where the saber here is the threat of nuclear weapons – and Europe runs for cover. By choosing to hide under their beds and refusing to confront Iran now, the Europeans are only postponing an inevitable confrontation: that of the civilized world versus a nuclear-armed Iran, the “most active state sponsor of terrorism.” Why should Europe and the rest of the world be worried about Iran’s nuclear and other WMD activities? First, Iran’s doomsday weapons are controlled by a handful of Islamist mullahs, not by the people. The mullahs are interested in one thing: staying in power and doing so at any cost. The Islamists are far out of touch with their own people. Iran’s populace is not bent on supporting terrorism, quite the contrary. According to the Council on Foreign Relations: …an increasingly discontented public are questioning the country's hard-line policies, rigid fundamentalism, and anti-Western bent. A government-commissioned poll of Iranians showed that:
Second, Iran is developing weapons delivery systems that threaten countries beyond the Middle Eastern theater: The Shehab-3 [missile] is of strategic importance for two primary reasons. First, its 1,300km+ range allows it to strike every important US ally in the region (i.e., Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey), southern Russia, and most of Afghanistan. Second, it was designed as a delivery system for WMD warheads. There are reports that Iran is: …developing missiles with even greater range, including one that it says will be used to launch satellites but that experts say could also be used as an intercontinental ballistic missile. Third, with a president like Mahmood Ahmadinejad, could there be any doubt as to whether Iran has nuclear weapons ambitions? According to the SMCCDI: Ahamdinejad was also part of the Islamic commnado group which stormed the US Embassy in Tehran and took 52 American diplomats as hostage for 444 days. According to the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, Iran is much closer to acquiring a military nuclear capability than supposed, due to its unexpected progress in developing uranium enrichment facilities using centrifuge technology. By admitting that it has a uranium enrichment program, Iran is basically telling the world that it indeed has military intentions. It is no wonder why Russia and China are balking at referring Iran to the Security Council. They are making money selling nuclear and missile technology, respectively, to the terror-masters. Russia, another “Great Satan,” who fought Afghanistan’s Islamists for almost a decade and is currently fighting Chechnya’s Islamists, is now helping the Islamist Republic of Iran lay the foundation for a nuclear weapons program. Russian president Putin, or one of his fellow KGB goons, has got to know that Iran’s nukes will eventually point towards Moscow. Having the money now must be more soothing than confronting the threat later. The EU is also busily doing business with Iran. Fear and greed seem to be the greatest motivators in this very dangerous Iranian nuclear weapons farce. Iran already has chemical and biological weapons; it already has WMD delivery systems. If we wait until Iran has nuclear weapons, imagine the leverage the mullahs will have on the world political scene. They will be in a position to make any type of demands of Europe and other countries. Knowing that Europe is weak now, imagine the level of placation that will be afforded to the Islamist dictators when Iran holds the ultimate trump card. Should the civilized world act now or wait until Iran’s mullahs can incinerate entire cities? |
