It gladdens my heart that some people are actually happy America exists. Gone are the days, I hope, when Che Guevara asked that the United States simply disappear. Now that the threat of international socialism is largely contained, and doomed to failure in the EU and China, now the evil forces of Islamism are beckoning to their death knell too.
Here's a rewrite of the quagmire fears of the Left and far Right. Maybe one day the history books in our public schools will be replaced by a true rendering of this nation's history. Only a nation born in revolution could bring freedom to the Iraqi people. Not France with its bloody beheadings in the "Place de la Concorde," which served as role model for the nasty regimes of mass-murder in the 20th century.
Now that America and Britain have been vindicated; now that Bush has become a triumphant president; now that the American people, whose vote of confidence sanctioned this war in the face of worldwide opposition, now stand as moral victors; now that the promise of America's revolution has arrived in Baghdad, it is time for humble reflection. When things go well for you, pray. Whether or not you believe in God or a god. Just pray. For guidance. For humility. For direction. Do what George Washington did after his inauguration. Get on your knees and pray. The times before us are too great and fraught with significance for hubris.
Long live the revolution.
