"Kerry will implode over an intern issue," said General Wesley Clark earlier this week, according to the Drudge Report. Drudge claims it has found evidence that Kerry, a Frankenstein monster, had an extra-marital affair with a young Associated Press intern over the last two years. The report also claims that Kerry "prodded" the young woman to leave the U.S. for Africa. It is interesting to note that the mainstream media has been relatively silent in reporting on Kerry's alleged affair. Perhaps there is a left-wing bias in the media. The foreign press has provided extensive coverage of the news. For example, the Mirror, the Scotsman, Reuters, and Calgary Sun all carried stories about Kerry's affair. While big American media outlets were largely silent, regional and local news entities like the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Forth Worth's Star-Telegram were not so quiet. Would it be a stretch to claim that big American media giants like ABC and CBS would prefer if Kerry won the election? I doubt it. They would most likely prefer the Kerry affair story to be swept under the rug. The problem is: times have changed. With the Internet, people can now get news form almost anywhere they want. People can also find line-by-line criticism of mainstream stories at websites like Little Green Footballs and InstaPundit -- or even here at little 'ol netWMD. Remember it was also Matt Drudge who first reported on Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky. Clinton was almost impeached as a result. Whether big media likes it or not, the Internet/World Wide Web have changed the nature of news reporting forever. Let's hope the news about Kerry's affair is true, and he loses the 2004 presidential elections even before they are held. |
