Why is Blix so Desperate to Protect Saddam?
By Andrew L. Jaffee, 3/28/2003

Despite the fact that US marines found 3,000 chemical protection suits and masks at a hospital in southern Iraq, and the fact that Saddam has fired prohibited missiles into Kuwait, Hans Blix continues to deny that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction.

Blix's position is incredulous while he's staring in the face of such obvious evidence. The missiles fired by Iraq exceed the UN's proscribed distances. One only needs an accurate map and/or a yard-stick to determine such ranges. And what of the chemical protection suits? Why would Saddam have them if he doesn't have chemical weapons and why would he hide them in a hospital? (I forgot to mention that a tank was also being stored in this same hospital).

What drives this man to take such positions? Is he afraid of being the one to catch Saddam in the act? Is he so much of a bureaucrat that he can't make a decision?

One can only wonder what drives Blix. One can conclude that fear is a driving force in his mind. Fear of taking action (instead of pushing papers and passing another 17 UN resolutions). Fear of standing up to evil (instead of placating it). Thank goodness that Tony Blair and George Bush have had the courage to lead and take action.

Write your representatives and ask them to support the disarmament of Saddam.
