The infamous Ward Churchill, whom after the 9/11 atrocity called the victims “little Eichmanns,” is at it again. Churchill was welcomed with open arms last night to speak at the University of Hawaii, again under the rubric of “free speech.” He spewed more of his anachronistic, elitist bigotry:

Churchill reiterated his contention that people who function in investment and brokerage trading further economic policies in Third World countries that lead to mass misery and death.

According to Churchill’s insane logic, a janitor who cleans toilets at a brokerage firm is contributing to “mass misery and death,” and it is “justice” when terrorists murder a stock broker.

Thousands of Americans work in the “investment and brokerage trading” industry from all walks of life. Is Churchill so sure that all these people are guilty of sowing the seeds of “mass misery and death?” IBM and Disney offer health benefits to same-sex couples. Wait a minute; that's politically correct. These two companies are both publicly traded. Just how does IBM cause “mass misery and death?” By selling software that makes businesses run more efficiently? Just how does a person who holds maybe $2,000 in IBM stock cause “mass misery and death?” Just how does a trader at a small brokerage firm who makes $50 - $60K per year cause “mass misery and death?”

Has Professor Churchill looked in the dictionary lately? After all, the definition of the word “bigot” is “a person who has strong, unreasonable beliefs and who thinks that anyone who does not have the same beliefs is wrong,” or "one who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ." Need I remind university administrators, supposedly “educated” people, of these definitions?

Churchill’s illogic is anachronistic. Slowly but surely, members of the family of nations are turning towards free markets and democracy. Eastern Europeans threw off the yoke of Soviet-imposed socialism by choice. No one forced these people to choose democracy and capitalism. In fact, they chose democracy and capitalism through the democratic process. Yet Churchill yearns for the day where Pol Pot, Milosevic, Stalin, Lenin, and Mao murder a hundred million people to accomplish nothing more than social disintegration – not socialism. Churchill must have a, “First, we’ll kill all the stock brokers” bumper sticker on his car.

Would the University of Hawaii invite white supremacists to speak? Not on your life. Political correctness has spiraled out of control and has morphed into an Orwellian nightmare where the “Ministry of Peace” really means the “Ministry of Rationalizing Terrorism.” How far out of balance will we let our colleges go? College administrators are welcoming bigots and terrorists to their campuses. Next thing you know, Osama Bin Laden will be touring U.S. schools waving a “free speech” visa.
