Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is again spouting Jew-hatred, and displaying his complete ignorance of history (but what’s rationality when expousing genocide?). In October, he urged that Israel be “wiped off the map.” Today, he:
…expressed doubt that the Holocaust occurred and suggested Israel be moved to Europe. …
In his own words:
“Some European countries insist on saying that Hitler killed millions of innocent Jews in furnaces and they insist on it to the extent that if anyone proves something contrary to that they condemn that person and throw them in jail,” IRNA quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.
“Although we don’t accept this claim, if we suppose it is true, we ask the Europeans: Is the killing of innocent Jewish people by Hitler the reason for their support to the occupiers of Jerusalem?”
“If the Europeans are honest they should give some of their provinces in Europe - like in Germany, Austria or other countries — to the Zionists and the Zionists can establish their state in Europe. You offer part of Europe and we will support it,” he added.
Here’s the kicker:
“The question is where do those who rule in Palestine as occupiers come from? Where were they born? Where did their fathers live? They have no roots in Palestine but they have taken the fate of Palestine in their hands?”
Since Ahmadinejad brought up Hitler, it is notable that Germany’s new chancellor, Angela Merkel, said today:
“With our historical responsibility in mind, I can only say that we reject them (Ahmadinejad’s comments) in the harshest possible terms.”
History? The sad fact of the matter is that Ahmadinejad probably is as ignorant as he sounds, despite the fact that his rhetoric is based in the Iranian mullahcracy’s anti-Semitism. Need I point out how easily accessible information is about Jewish roots in Israel? Even the open-source Wikipedia, which has been prone to politically correct sanitization, states:
In compiling the history of ancient Israel and Judah, there are many available sources, including the Jewish Tanakh (the Old Testament) and other Jewish texts such as the Talmud, the Ethiopian book of history known as the Kebra Nagast, the writings of historians such as Nicolaus of Damascus, Artapanas, Philo of Alexandria and Josephus, other writings, and archaeological evidence including Egyptian, Moabite, Assyrian and Babylonian inscriptions.
It is especially painful for those of us who have spent time in Israel to hear this steady stream of delegitimization of Jewish history. How many of the Holy Land’s ancient archaeological sites scream with Jewish history, e.g., Hebrew inscriptions on weathered stone? Tel Megido? The Wailing Wall? The Cave of Machpelah (Tomb of the Patriarchs)?
Oh, the pain of all this. And Iran still holds a seat at the United Nations.

[...] As for Ahmadinejad, he has been advocating genocide against Israel since he took office. He’s denied that the Holocaust ever occurred. He’s advocated the ethnic cleansing of Jews from Israel, and has reiterated this stance many times, e.g., “Israel ‘is an illegitimate regime, there is no legal basis for its existence,’ he said.” Ahmadinejad’s thugs hung two boys for being gay last July. “We are not at all happy with war,” but we want Israel “wiped off the map,” right? Makes sense in an Islamo-fascist kinda way. [...]

[...] According to Fox, “Critics wonder why the leader of a nation that exports terrorism is allowed to speak [at Columbia], but the leader of an American organization that seeks to secure U.S. borders was not.” Count me as a critic. When Minuteman founder and president Jim Gilchrist tried to speak at Columbia last year, “his speech was thwarted when students and other opponents stormed the stage as he took the podium.” No doubt that Iranian President Ahmadinejad will be welcomed courteously at Columbia, even though he’s called the Holocaust a “myth” and advocated that Israel be “wiped off the map.” Columbia allowed a riot to stifle Gilchrist’s free speech — in academia.
