No matter how inflamed passions get, we (the West) must remember that there are decent, law-abiding Muslims out there, and that we have a responsibility to cultivate them and work with them, instead of kowtowing to the Islamist cooks. Some Danes have proved they are no better than the Muslim extremists now burning embassies, killing, and rampaging over the Mohammed cartoons. According to the BBC:
…Denmark saw about 25 Muslim graves desecrated in what police called a “backlash” against the uproar.
Vandals smashed only Muslim headstones in Esbjerg, west of Copenhagen.
What is this barbarity? These vandals cannot even let the dead rest in peace. If it is not one ruffian group, it is another, equally unacceptable.

Drew,
You are engaging in moral absolutism.
I take no issue with your condemning what are almost certainly the acts of Danish non-Muslims in overturning Muslim gravestones. Nothing justifies such behavior.
Nonetheless the Danes have been set upon by Muslims worldwide, be it violent and destructive protests in Arab and Mulsim nations or so called peaceful reactions by boycotting Danish goods or peaceful Muslims joining the voices of the violent while not joining in their violent actions.
While some European nations have tried to stand with the Danes, most have not and Britain, Canada and the U.S. have definitely not defended the Danes. Rather these nations have implicitly joined the Muslim voices of rage by saying freedom of speech must be exercised responsibly and take Muslim sensitivies into account.
Danes are under attack and doubtless that is a visceral sense that all Danes feel as much as the frustration that they are helpless.
Turning over some Muslim gravestones cannot be condoned.
On a moral relativistic scale however, the Danes’ actions are slight compared to what they have been forced to endure for their defence of freedom of speech from radical Muslims, so called moderate Muslims who preach the goals, but not the means of violent Muslims and those simpering, whimpering do gooder nations who are moved by fear, to mollify and appease Muslim sentiments and sensibilities.
If crocodile tears should be shed at all, it should be for the Danes.
It should be for the West’s necessary loss of self respect in order to accord respect demanded by the disrespectful and intolerant radical Muslim world.
It should be for the success of radical Muslims at intimidating the West into compromising its own Western values and principals and in particular its cherished principles of freedom of speech when it comes to the West’s views regarding Muslims and Islam.
