Toronto, Canada, Wednesday, July 26, 2006 - The Canadian Coalition for Democracies (CCD) has been granted intervenor status at the Commission of Inquiry into the Investigation of the Bombing of Air India Flight 182. David Harris, CCD Senior Fellow for National Security, will serve as legal counsel and intervene on behalf of CCD at the Commission of Inquiry.

“CCD commends Prime Minister Harper for establishing the Air India inquiry to discover why Canada failed to find and convict those responsible for the worst terrorist attack in Canadian history and how to prevent and successfully prosecute future threats,” said Alastair Gordon, President of CCD. “Clearly, this government has shown its commitment to protecting the security and pluralistic values of Canadians against those who would destroy them.”

“CCD is honoured to serve in any way we can to help understand why our security and legal apparatus failed to bring to justice those responsible for this terrorist outrage,” said Manoj Pundit, Director, CCD. “Through our participation in the inquiry, CCD will work with Canada’s Indian community, security and intelligence experts, and forensic specialists in fraudulent charities that finance terror.”

“We are pleased that Canada’s days as a welcoming incubator of terror are ending,” added Gordon.
