Democratic Party = Soviet Politburo

Having traveled in the Soviet Union several times, I got used to reading the headlines in Pravda, Novosti, etc. The wording penned by apparatchiks in those days of Stalinist repression is now being echoed by the Democratic National Committee on its website. The DNC is frothing at the mouth in the hopes of stifling freedom of expression — a TV show, namely ABC’s “The Path To 911.” What’s really frightening is that the Democratic Senate leadership has threatened to revoke ABC’s broadcast license if it doesn’t censor the 911 drama. Here is the DNC in its own words — proving that the mini-series has hit too close to home:

A Despicable, Irresponsible Fraud
Does a major national broadcast network want to stain itself by presenting an irresponsible, slanderous, fraudulent, “docu-drama” to the American public? “The Path to 9/11″ mocks the truth and dishonors the memory of 9/11 victims to serve a cheap, callous political agenda. Help keep this propaganda off the air. Read more…

Keep “Path to 9/11″ Propaganda Film Off The Air…

Keep a TV show off the air in the home of the free, land of the brave? And this is being advocated by a party that calls itself “democratic?” Here is the Democrats’ not so veiled threat to ABC:

Presenting such deeply flawed and factually inaccurate misinformation to the American public and to children would be a gross miscarriage of your corporate and civic responsibility to the law, to your shareholders, and to the nation.

The Communications Act of 1934 provides your network with a free broadcast license predicated on the fundamental understanding of your principle obligation to act as a trustee of the public airwaves in serving the public interest. Nowhere is this public interest obligation more apparent than in the duty of broadcasters to serve the civic needs of a democracy by promoting an open and accurate discussion of political ideas and events.

Hold on. They’re using the wording of national legislation against a sovereign, publicly-traded company, completely out of the context of the framing document, the Constitution.

Please help support free expression by asking ABC to go ahead with its docudrama.

did you feel the same way about the conservative push to move “The Reagans” off the air?

  2. publisher Says:

Yes. I did. In other words, I didn’t oppose “The Reagans” on the grounds that it was free expression. That’s the beauty of the U.S. The good stuff and the crap is all available, and it is up the reader/viewer to decide. The Dems sound an awful lot like the Islamists did with the Danish cartoons.

  3. laika Says:

    as did the republicans then.
