911: Remembering a Blameless Tragedy

This morning, as I switched between network and cable coverage of 911 commemorative events, one thing I noticed that was conspicuously absent: naming those who perpetrated this heinous crime, the Islamo-fascists. Assume for a moment that it would be possible for someone without prior knowledge of 911 to tune in this morning and find out about what happened 5 years ago today. It would be possible for this person to think that the vicious attack on the U.S. was merely a blameless event, without assailants — airliners running into buildings, an accident, like a tornado. It would be like discussing the Holocaust, but without mentioning Hitler, fascism, the Third Reich, or Nazism. But we know that Hitler’s genocide is rarely mentioned, especially by the politically-correct, without mentioning Nazis.

So why now sanitize 911 of blame and a desire for justice? Because of fear. Unfortunately, there are those in the U.S. for which al-Qaeda’s attack has had its desired result. Terrorism works.

The Islamist tactic, fueled by pure hatred, is to strike such horror into “infidels” so that we will bow our heads in submission, allowing these radicals to forcibly mold the world in their twisted vision, and sweep 911 victims like Sareve Dukat under the rug — the terrorists believe that their means justify the end.

Islamism is a distortion of religion, turning belief into a death cult; a desire for absolute power on Earth, using G#d’s word as a justification for mass slaughter, and the erasure of all things non-Muslim from human culture.

Let us not forget what Osama bin Laden, al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, Iranian President Ahmadinejad — the Islamic extremists — represent. Islamists massacred 344 civilians — half of them children — in Beslan, North Ossetia. They killed 174 in Mumbai, India; murdered 50+ in Turkey; and have killed tens of thousands in Indonesia, Algeria, and Nigeria. Al-Qaeda slaughtered 88 innocent Egyptians last July 23.

1,095 innocent Israelis have been killed by Palestinian terrorists since September 2000. Thirty-thousand Iraqis, mostly Muslim, have been slaughtered by Islamist terrorists since the country’s liberation.

9/11 (3000 dead). Madrid (200 dead). London (50 dead). Bali (200 dead). Amman (57 dead). Three-hundred trampled to death in this year’s Hajj; 1,426 killed in the 1990 Hajj; 251 in 2004; etc. Sudanese Muslims have slaughtered 180,000 black Africans. Kuwaitis ethnically cleansed 400,000 Palestinians in 1991.

Surely we cannot stand by while such actions are erased from the history books. A desire for justice and security is not racist. Hitler was appeased. Stalin was appeased. Remember what happened?

We fought communism and fascism and said so explicitly. Just because Islamists act in the name of “G#d,” or come from the Third World, doesn’t make them less evil. People need to remember 911’s evil engineers, not just some event in which airliners accidentally ran into skyscrapers. The civilized world needs to stand united in fighting Islamism, and put an end to this twisted ideology before it puts an end to us. Are we up to the task?
