There was a time when songs and poetry were central to any society, because they were the means by which the society transmitted its values, cultures, and ideals. This was even more important when most people were illiterate, so everything had to be passed on through “oral tradition.” In those days, bards, skalds, poets, and similar storytellers were highly-valued members of society, because they were the stewards of what was effectively the society’s soul. The rhyming nature of poetry doubtlessly originated so the storyteller could more easily remember what to say next, especially if he could not read.
Europe is being overrun by invading militant “Muslims” who want to turn the nations they infest into Islamic societies, to be governed by barbaric militant “Islamic” law (Sharia). This was pointed out most recently in Fjordman’s “A European Declaration of Independence” and Filip van Laenen’s “Oslo Muslims Six Times More Likely to Rape.” The problems these articles describe would not be problems in societies that have not forgotten the values, attitudes, and culture that made them great.

Native Revolt: A European Declaration of Independence reports,
Although the EU warns against “Islamophobia,” those who live in the real world know that there has been an explosion of violent infidelophobia in Western Europe staged by Muslim immigrants. This wave of violence especially targets Jews, but the attacks against Christians that are going on in the Middle East are increasingly spreading to Europe as well. In more and more cities across the continent, non-Muslims are being harassed, robbed, mugged, raped, stabbed and even killed by Muslims. Native Europeans are slowly becoming second-rate citizens in their own countries.
How can this possibly be a problem in any country whose people take pride in their heritage, culture, values, and ideals? The problem is Kumbaya-singing European multiculturalists who are willing to accept militant “Islamic” gutter cultures that sanction violence against women and “infidels” as equal to superior Euro-American cultures that uphold the natural rights of all human beings. The problem is that Europeans no longer remember their old songs and poems or, if they do, they have forgotten what they stood for and how many brave people died to uphold what they stood for. The purpose of this article is to help them to remember.
WALES
Let us begin with the Welsh, especially since March is the month of the so-called Daffodil Day in the United States. It is not Daffodil Day, it is Saint David’s Day, and it marks a famous Welsh victory over Saxon invaders. The Welsh custom of wearing leeks on Saint David’s Day comes from the fact that the Welsh soldiers, who feared that they might fail to distinguish friend from foe in the battle, attached leeks to their hats or helmets. Here is something else for our Welsh friends to remember when they see militant “Islamic” invaders menacing their land, womenfolk, and way of life. This is what Welshmen do when invaders, no matter who they are, threaten their wives, children, and homes:
Tongues of fire on Idris flaring,
news of foe-men near declaring,
to heroic deeds of daring,
call you Harlech menGroans of wounded peasants dying,
wails of wives and children flying,
for the distant succour crying,
call you Harlech men.Shall the voice of wailing
now be unavailing
you to rouse who never yet
in battles hour were failing. This our answer crowds down pouring
swift as winter torrents roaring,
not in vain the voice imploring,
calls on Harlech men.…Ere the sun is high in heaven
they you fear, by panic riven,
shall like frightened sheep be driven
far by Harlech men.
Again, it is not “Daffodil Day,” it is Saint David’s Day, as reported by Captain Fluellen in King Henry V. “”our majesty says very true: if your majesties is remembered of it, the Welshmen did good service in a garden where leeks did grow, wearing leeks in their Monmouth caps; which, your majesty know, to this hour is an honourable badge of the service; and I do believe your majesty takes no scorn to wear the leek upon Saint Tavy’s day.” (Act IV, Scene 7) And the above lyrics are “Men of Harlech” (Royal Regiment of Wales version), which is or should be so important to the Welsh that there are probably a dozen versions.
ENGLAND
Next we come to neighboring England, whom Rudyard Kipling tells what to do when the enemy is at the gate:
“For All We Have and Are”
For all we have and are,
For all our children’s fate,
Stand up and meet the war.
The Hun is at the gate!
Our world has passed away
In wantonness o’erthrown.
There is nothing left to-day
But steel and fire and stone.Though all we knew depart,
The old commandments stand:
“In courage keep your heart,
In strength lift up your hand.”Once more we hear the word
That sickened earth of old:
“No law except the sword
Unsheathed and uncontrolled,”
Once more it knits mankind,
Once more the nations go
To meet and break and bind
A crazed and driven foe.
Rudyard Kipling also summarized how a proper Anglo-American soccer hooligan or droog should behave when provoked:
So we loosed a bloomin’ volley,
An’ we made the beggars cut,
An’ when our pouch was emptied out,
We used the bloomin’ butt,Ho! My!
Don’t yer come anigh,
When Tommy is a playin’ with the baynit an’ the butt.
-Barrack Room Ballad. -
We also remind our British comrades of what Queen Elizabeth I said when her nation was threatened, not by undisciplined Islamofascist hordes but by a huge armada of Spanish warships, and troop transports filled with the dreaded Spanish tercios or matchlock musket battalions. Unlike Tony Blair, who supports gun control laws to disarm his people, Elizabeth was unafraid to appear in front of armed Englishmen even though Spain’s allies in the Church had ordered her Catholic subjects to overthrow her and probably kill her in the bargain. (Alternatively, only tyrants fear armed subjects; free governments embrace them as a second line of defense.)
My loving people,
We have been persuaded by some that are careful of our safety, to take heed how we commit our selves to armed multitudes, for fear of treachery; but I assure you I do not desire to live to distrust my faithful and loving people. Let tyrants fear, I have always so behaved myself that, under God, I have placed my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and good-will of my subjects; and therefore I am come amongst you, as you see, at this time, not for my recreation and disport, but being resolved, in the midst and heat of the battle, to live and die amongst you all; to lay down for my God, and for my kingdom, and my people, my honour and my blood, even in the dust. I know I have the body but of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too, and think foul scorn that Parma or Spain, or any prince of Europe, should dare to invade the borders of my realm …we shall shortly have a famous victory over those enemies of my God, of my kingdom, and of my people.
Sir Winston Churchill said pretty much the same thing when his little island was menaced, not by undisciplined hordes of ill-armed Islamofascists, but by a war machine that had already crushed France and Poland. Needless to say, Hitler in a Headscarf wants to plunge Civilization into not only a new Dark Age, but perhaps into a new Stone Age in which infidels will be hanged for “apostasy” and women stoned to death for “adultery,” which will include being raped. There were doubtlessly Kumbaya-singers, Michael Moores, Code Pinks, Cindy Sheehans, Axis Sallies, and Lord Haw-Haws in England who wanted to make a shameful peace with Hitler in a Toothbrush Mustache, but real Britons showed them that lionhearts don’t take orders from chickenhearts.
What General Weygand called the Battle of France is over. I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. Upon it depends our own British life, and the long continuity of our institutions and our Empire. The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us.
Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this Island or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, ‘This was their finest hour.’
SCOTLAND
There was a time when Scots knew what to do about foreign invaders–even courageous and disciplined English ones, as opposed to dirty and cowardly mobs of Islamofascists.
Scots Wha Hae ["Scots, Who Have"]
Words: Robert Burns
Wha will be a traitor-knave?
Wha can fill a coward’s grave?
Wha sae base as be a slave?
Let him turn and flee!Wha for Scotland’s king and law
Freedom’s sword will strongly draw,
— Free-man stand, or Free-man fa’ [fall],
Let him follow me!
POLAND
Next we come to our Polish comrades, who maintained their national identity despite more than a hundred years of foreign occupation.
Dąbrowski’s Mazurka
Poland is not yet lost
while we live
We will fight (with swords) for all
That our enemies had taken from us.Refrain:
March, march Dabrowski
…from Italy to Poland
Under your command
we will reunite with the nation.…Like Czarniecki to Poznan, after Swedish annexation,
We will come back across the sea to save our motherland(Refrain)
Father, in tears, says to his Basia: “Just listen,
It seems that our people are beating the drums.”(Refrain)
NETHERLANDS
(Just replace “Spaniards” with “Islamofascists”)
Nothing so moves my pity
As seeing through these lands,
Field, village, town and city
Pillaged by roving hands.
O that the Spaniards rape thee,
My Netherlands so sweet,
The thought of that does grip me
Causing my heart to bleed.Astride on steed of mettle
I’ve waited with my host
The tyrant’s call to battle,
Who durst not do his boast.
For, near Maastricht ensconced,
He feared the force I wield.
My horsemen saw one bounce it
Bravely across the field.
SPAIN: “Santiago y cierra España!” (”Saint James and strike for Spain!”) Saint James is also known as Matamoros, “Moor-Slayer.”
Needless to say, the Kumbaya-singers are giving in to the politically-correct multiculturalists instead of rejoicing in a part of Spanish history that (unlike the Inquisition and butt-kickings at the hands of every country they fought beginning in 1588), Spaniards can actually be proud of. If it were up to us, Spaniards with any national pride whatsoever would start wearing Panama hats (an aspect of Saint James) and yelling “Santiago y cierra España!” at any bum in a dirty nightshirt who takes offense. Instead, the denizens of this has-been nation are doing as follows.
blockquote>A statue in a Spanish cathedral showing St James slicing the heads off Moorish invaders is to be removed to avoid causing offence to Muslims.
Finally we return to the United States, and this song should answer any militant “Muslims” or their multiculturalist stooges who find the display of the American flag offensive. If we wouldn’t lower our flag for offended Britons armed with Congreve rockets, why should we lower it for bums in dirty nightshirts and their multiculturalist boot-lickers?
O say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?…Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation,
Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the Heav’n-rescued land
Praise the Pow’r that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
