The National Jewish Democratic Council (double oxymoron, there is little either Jewish or Democratic about it) just published a fascinating guest column by NJDC activist Steve Sheffey. We thought we had seen every conceivable form of chutzpah, but this takes the prize for all time shamelessness:
So I say to my Republican friends, continue to vote Republican if you want to, but remember: When the Messiah comes, it’s 87% likely that he’ll be a Democrat.
Q: How do you know a National Jewish Democratic Council blogger is lying?
A: His fingers are moving over a keyboard.
This has been our experience, given NJDC head Ira Forman’s shameless lies on behalf of the anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic hate group MoveOn.org. The Judenrats (Nazi-appointed Jewish governing councils) and kapos (Jewish concentration camp trustees) of the Second World War can, to some degree or other, offer the defense of duress for their collaboration with the Nazis. If they didn’t cooperate, the Nazis would have killed them and found other Jews who would be more cooperative. One of the Judenrat’s functions was to tell Jews that the cattle cars were going to take them to nice country retreats and relaxing work camps. In contrast to Jews who cooperated with Nazis because they had guns (often literally) to their heads, NJDC leader Ira Forman was under no duress whatsoever when he said the following:
Jewish voters should take comfort in knowing that MoveOn.org is not a haven for anti-Semitism and the organization will renounce and remove any postings of the sort. Leave it to Republicans to not allow the truth to get in the way of campaigning. Sincerely, Ira Forman Executive Director National Jewish Democratic Council.
We thought this was the ultimate form of chutzpah; Forman’s straight-faced denial that MoveOn.org knowingly and willfully hosted hate speech like the following beauty we recently examined. Eight of the nine Action Forum participants who voted on this one agreed with it.
http://www.actionforum.com/forum/scores.html?&comment_id=285709 (The Action Forum is still “on vacation” to “conserve technology bandwidth” for the 2006 election).
With the myriad of reasons for the Iraq invastion, (now discounted) the real reason we preemptively invaded Iraq was for the security of Israel and for it’s goal of usurping more land, power and oil from it’s Arab neighbors. The AIPAC is the most powerful lobby on Capitol Hill. No politician can be critical of Israeli policy without risking losing the money, votes and the power of this lobby. They all know it is political suicide to do so. This is the dirty little secret that no one can talk about! Another big problem is conflict of interest. How can we have high level people in our government making foreign policy decisions when they are Jewish Americans? It is a cystal clear case of conflict of interest. Their loyalty is to Israel and it has become our loyalty too above what is good for America. No other interests should be above American interest, but this is not the case. Our government is in the horrible position now of fighting this war for the benefit of Israel without their help (don’t want a WWW3 situation), without their money and we are losing American lives for a lie. Iraq has never been any kind of threat to America. They are a threat to Israel. Sure we would like to get our hands on Iraqi oil, but that’s not why we are there. The Israeli lobby started asking us to start a war with in the Clinton administration. We wouldn’t do it, but when 9-11 happened George decided he could tie them to it and show the rest of the world they better not mess with us in the process. Of course the “cooked up WMD’s” were largely a result of Jewish Americans in the intelligence community.
Statements like this were not made in a vacuum, they were doubtlessly encouraged by official MoveOn.org bulletins, signed by Noah T. Winer, that accused “Zionists” of divided loyalties. Another Noah Winer bulletin backs the Palestinians against Israel, while citing Gush Shalom (aka Jews for Jihad) and Electronic Intifada, the same group that accused Israel of “murdering” Rachel Corrie.
Yet Mr. Sheffey argues,
It is true that there appears to be some anti-Semitism among certain segments of the left. Whether this has always been there or whether it is now more apparent because the left seems to be adapting faster to the Internet is hard to say, but there is no doubt it is there. But these fringes are not influencing Democratic policy on Israel.
Right. The Soros-funded MoveOn.org group, whose support is courted by all major Democratic candidates like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, is just a “certain segment” of the left, and a mere “fringe” that does not influence Democratic policy on Israel. This is the same organization whose official bulletins cite Electronic Intifada while accusing “Zionists” and, more explicitly, “Jewish-Americans,” of divided loyalties. This is the same organization that called Joe Lieberman, one of the two Democrats for whom we could even consider voting next November (Pennsylvania’s Ed Rendell is the other), “Jew Lieberman” while referring to Tom Lantos as a “whining, arrogant Jew.”
Perhaps Mr. Sheffey also wants to argue that the prominent racist and anti-Semite Al Sharpton, who received glowing (like the embers of Jewish-owned Freddy’s Fashion Mart) endorsements from Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and John Edwards also is just a “certain segment of the left” and a “fringe” element of the Democratic Party.
Fortunately, NJDC’s guest commentator may have tripped up NJDC in its attacks on the Christian Right, with the following remark. We will remind Steve Rabin and Ira Forman of this every time they bash the Christian Right from now on.
Thanks in part to the increasing influence of the Christian right in the Republican party, the GOP is catching up to the Democrats in terms of pro-Israel reliability.
Now that we have that settled, we can proceed to Mr. Sheffey’s next assertion: “A vote for the Democrats is a vote for God.” This is exactly what the NJDC’s anti-Christian Bubbie video accused the Republican Party of doing: “A vote for Bush is a vote for God.” Yet now the NJDC brings in a guest commentator to make the following argument.
The 87% of Jews who vote Democratic are not stupid and are not any less concerned about Israel than the 13% who vote Republican; they simply continue to feel more comfortable with the Democratic party’s commitment to tzedakah and tikkun olam.
So I say to my Republican friends, continue to vote Republican if you want to, but remember: When the Messiah comes, it’s 87% likely that he’ll be a Democrat.
NJDC has made it clear that it is willing to write off, excuse, or explain away the most outrageous racist, anti-Semitic, and other forms of bigoted conduct by the Democratic Party. It has used its purportedly Jewish identity to whitewash blatant anti-Semitic hate speech (plus 9/11 Denial and Catholic-baiting) by its friends at MoveOn.org. Fortunately, Republicans can use its purportedly Democratic identity to demolish Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, or John Edwards next year. This is because NJDC has established standards under which any candidate who consorts openly with racists and anti-Semites can be deemed unfit to hold office, and all three of these Democrats have done so. It is therefore imperative that Democrats who don’t want a one-candidate election next year (i.e. whatever the Republicans nominate, even if it’s a turnip with a potato as its running mate) encourage Lieberman and/or Rendell to enter the race.
