Join the Boycott, a watchdog and protest website addressing anti-Israel bias in the Los Angeles Times and the rest of the media, and hosted by Yahoo Geocities, is calling for a high level investigation of Yahoo’s practices, following Yahoo’s repeated interruption of its website service.
In early March, Yahoo took Join the Boycott offline and has kept it offline since. When surfers click on the Join the Boycott website
http://www.geocities.com/truthmasters/jointheboycott.htm
they receive the message “this page is not available”.
Join the Boycott advocates responsible consumer protest against anti-Israel propaganda in the form of boycotts and other measures, and believes that Yahoo’s shutting down of the site is both an outrageous act of censorship and a clear indication of Yahoo’s own anti-Israel bias.
This is the second time Yahoo has shut Join the Boycott down; the first time was in April-May of 2007. Both times Yahoo shut the site down without warning or explanation, and refused numerous requests to reinstate it. However, after an outcry from supporters of Join the Boycott and protests to several prominent political figures the first time around, Yahoo did put the site back online. This time around, Yahoo has yet to reinstate it.
Join the Boycott condemns Yahoo’s action as an impermissible form of censorship, a denial of Join the Boycott’s fundamental right of freedom of speech.
Join the Boycott also condemns Yahoo’s abusive customer service practices. Yahoo has responded to protests with form responses which do not have any relevance to the issues complained of and make wholly unsupported claims.
Join the Boycott has again registered protests with several prominent California political figures including Senators Feinstein and Boxer and is calling on them to launch a top level investigation into Yahoo’s practices.
