Obama at Ft Hood Memorial: No Mention of Terrorism or Jihad

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

By Phyllis Chesler

America, the West, and Israel are all fighting back in a war that radical, jihadic Islamists, (not Muslims) have declared against us. The Islamist propagandists have managed to persuade western leftists, academics, politicians, heads of state, and the media that America and Israel are actually waging a war on Islam. It’s what Osama bin Laden thinks.

Nevertheless, today, a half hour ago at Ft Hood, President Obama did not pronounce the following words: “Jihad,” “Terrorism,” “Islamist terrorism,” or “Islamic terrorism.” Early on, President Obama said that “this is a time of war,” (followed by many platitudes). Towards the end, he said something unscripted, something not contained in the speech transcript. Obama said that “these soldiers could not escape the horror of war even at home” — but he failed to name what that war might be and who might be fighting it. Continue reading…

Reality Raises Its Head and the Media Wakes Up About the Obama Administration’s Middle East Failure

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

By Barry Rubin

There’s something big happening in the air regarding American media coverage of the Obama Administration. With the Washington Post in advance, the New York Times waking up the tiniest bit, the Los Angeles Times trailing far behind, and a lot of other newspapers getting tough, reality is seeping into their coverage. Even the Boston Globe, America’s most liberal newspaper, is strongly criticizing Obama.

The Globe remarks:

Sudden Jihad or “Inordinate Stress” at Ft. Hood?

Monday, November 9th, 2009

by Daniel Pipes*

When a Muslim in the West for no apparent reason violently attacks non-Muslims, a predictable argument ensues about motives.

The establishment — law enforcement, politicians, the media, and the academy — stands on one side of this debate, insisting that some kind of oppression caused Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, to kill 13 and wound 38 at Ft. Hood on Nov. 5. It disagrees on the specifics, however, presenting Hasan as the victim alternatively of “racism,” “harassment he had received as a Muslim,” a sense of “not belonging,” “pre-traumatic stress disorder,” “mental problems,” “emotional problems,” “an inordinate amount of stress,” or being deployed to Afghanistan as his “worst nightmare.” Accordingly, a typical newspaper headline reads “Mindset of Rogue Major a Mystery.”

Don’t Lecture Us Mr. Obama - The Murderer Hasan Made This About Religion

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

By Andrew L. Jaffee

“Allahu Akhbar” or “God is great” is the Arab Muslim clarion call often shouted just before Islamist homicide bombers murder innocents. This is what Major Nidal Malik Hasan shouted out just before he savagely murdered 13 people and wounded at least 16 at Fort Hood. Despite all the warning signs that this brute’s mind was filled with warped, radical Islamist ideology, President Obama has had the audacity to chide Americans with the words, “We don’t know all the answers yet. And I would caution against jumping to conclusions until we have all the facts.” It is Obama who is jumping to conclusions with veiled accusations of supposed American anti-Muslim sentiment. Major Hasan made this a religious matter with his big fat mouth and guns. Have you looked at the facts, Mr. Obama? Let me help you out. First, from the AP:

UK Telegraph: Fort Hood ‘killer linked to September 11 terrorists’

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

By Andrew L. Jaffee

Politically correct incompetents within our own military ignored warning signs that Fort Hood terrorist Major Nidal Malik Hasan was some kind of Islamist nutcase. Thirteen innocents are dead and at least 16 are wounded at the hands of this murderer. So now we find that, “Hasan worshipped at a mosque led by a radical imam said to be a ’spiritual adviser’ to three of the hijackers who attacked America on Sept 11, 2001.” From the UK’s Telegraph:

Mogahed’s Excuses Don’t Add Up

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

by Cinnamon Stillwell*

As reported last week by Campus Watch, Dalia Mogahed, appointee to President Obama’s Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, executive director and senior analyst of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies, and co-author, along with Georgetown University’s John Esposito, of Who Speaks for Islam?: What a Billion Muslims Really Think, appeared (by phone) earlier this month on the UK-based Islam Channel television program “Muslimah Dilemma” (view here and read the complete transcript here.) Ibtihal Bsis, the show’s host, is a member of the Islamist group Hizb ut Tahrir; Mogahed’s fellow guest, Nazreen Nawaz, is the group’s national women’s media representative. Given these affiliations, it’s no surprise that the discussion included such extremist fare as the promotion of sharia law for — of all things — protecting women’s rights, condemnation for secular pluralistic democracy, and the revival of a mythical caliphate as the answer to the Muslim world’s woes.

Censored! The Truth About Hizb ut-Tahrir

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

By Phyllis Chesler

The Center for Social Cohesion, a distinguished British think tank, has just released a major expose of the radical Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT), which is targeting the West, “including the United States, and (which) supports violent jihad.” Britain has just suspended government support for some HT nursery and primary schools which function to indoctrinate unsuspecting Muslim children into dreaming of a global caliphate.

And yes, they veil the little, little girls at ever-younger ages. Well-meaning parents who themselves may not be religiously well-versed may believe that what this group does, represents “authentic” rather than dangerously “radical” Islam. Continue reading…

Is The Turkish-Israeli Alliance Over? Yes It Is

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

By Barry Rubin

The Turkey-Israel alliance is over. After two decades plus of close cooperation, the Turkish government is no longer interested in maintaining close cooperation with Israel nor is it–for all practical purposes–willing to do anything much to maintain its good relations with Israel.

The U.S.-Turkish alliance, which goes back about six decades, is also over but much less visibly so, though the two relationships are interlinked.

Honor Killings All Over America: Why Are the Islamists Suddenly Silent?

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

By Phyllis Chesler

Last week, the Iraqi father who drove a two ton jeep over his daughter in Arizona for being “too westernized” high-tailed it out of town, drove down to Mexico where he abandoned his vehicle and caught a flight to London. UK Port of Entry authorities denied him entry, contacted US authorities and placed him back on a plane to the US. Almaleki was arrested when his plane landed in Atlanta, then returned to Arizona where he now sits in jail.

“Agencies involved included the US Marshalls Office, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the FBI, Arizona Department of Public Safety, officials in the United Kingdom, and officials from the Nogales and Sonora, Mexico Police.”
