What will change with a nuclear Iran?

As Iran races to the nuclear finish line, showing off its capabilities with long-range nuclear-tip-ready missiles and every other kind of system that we thought in years past was beyond their capability, we must ask ourselves what will change when next year Iran rules the Middle East by dint of their regional technological nuclear advantage.

The Iranians have announced that their main targets are the Big Satan (the U.S.) and the Little Satan (Israel) but, in the mind of an Iranian President Ahmadinejad, the Big Satan is Israel and the smaller one is America. I am afraid that U.S. President Obama’s administration sees the world in almost the same way as Iran. Iran has recently said that Europe will get a free pass when it comes to nuclear annihilation. This is probably due to the agreeable posture Europe has adopted in both allowing and helping Iran achieve its nuclear objectives and mollifying Iran through inaction and endless extensions of deadlines without consequences.

The first big change will be Iran gaining a powerful umbrella over the Persian Gulf and the surrounding states by default — the regional power shift will be palpable and change the zeitgeist completely. Iran will rule the seas and the U.S., drawing down its forces and looking for exit strategies from the Middle Eastern morass, will no longer offer oil states the security that has allowed these nations to grow rich and fat under American protection. The Gulf States and the Saudis will be feverishly trying to build up nuclear capability, spending enormously on filling the void of an America that will have abandoned its role as defender of kings and dictators.

America under Obama will have embraced the Muslim Brotherhood at home and abroad and, in doing so, he will have sanctioned jihad and sharia in the West and acted against the interests of dictators in Saudi and the Gulf. Gulf dictators are not on my list of favourite endangered species that deserve protection but the alternative — Iranian mullahs — looks much worse. Obama’s plan will also work against Israel. Out of necessity, new alliances will be formed between old rivals, such as Israel and the Saudis, because of the changing power structure and the danger of a mutual enemy.

Peace and Islam seem to be incompatible at this point in history. There will be brief moments of peace when Muslims are allowed uncontested and unchallenged conquest; otherwise war and killing will prevail. In America, the government has bought a temporary hudna (tactical, false ceasefire) with Islam with Obama’s appeasement policies as the administration co-opts tension with American-appointed sympathizers for the Islamic points-of-view. The new cold war will now be defined by lines drawn between the Western-backed Muslim Brotherhood (Sunni) versus a mix of Sunni and Shia states led by Iran.

The second big change will be in Israel. All other problems for Israel pale in comparison to the threat of Iran. Israel will not likely be interested in any talks with Arabs who demand land and offer nothing tangible in return — least of all — “peace” which has always been a code word for the burning down of Israel in U.N.-approved stages. Israel will be living in a world where the only deterrence to nuclear annihilation will reside in their ability to use stealth means to undermine both the military and political leadership in Iran. Whether a pre-emptive strike carried out by Israel will happen is anyone’s guess. That decision will be made without Obama’s approval and consistent with his policy of undermining Israel by looking the other way as the Iranians gain unfettered access to the material and expertise that a mercenary world has provided.

The third big change will come when a nuclear Iran begins to awaken the Islamic zeal. This zeal will create a desire to join a coalition with the most potent regional military power, Iran. Iran will use its new found nuclear status to proselytize, bribe, bully, fund and win over countries that see a viable future in the Iranian sphere rather than under the Russian or Western sphere of influence. We already have proof of Iran’s ability to coalesce support for its racist and Armageddon objectives (in Lebanon, Turkey, Syria and Egypt). Meanwhile, the U.N. and others spend absolutely no time condemning Iran but, instead, invest their efforts in preventing Israel from surviving and existing.

The question of what Iran does with the nukes and how it uses its new friends whose level and degree of support will be commensurate with the strength of Iranian military power is one question that remains to be determined. Will a Syria with or without Assad remain under this new umbrella? Will Turkey open its diplomatic doors to Iran and make progress towards an alliance that has been temporarily interrupted by disagreements over the fascist Syrian leader’s slaughter of his people (really not –his “people” because his ruling family comes from a minority Alawite tribe)? Will the U.N. honour Iran by putting that totalitarian nuclear regime in charge of Human Rights and will Ahmadinejad be granted and Nobel Peace Prize?

In my opinion, Iran is today what Germany represented in the lead-up to WWII. This is the time to prevent a world tyrant — who would never understand the concept of deterrence — from moving ahead and implement its goal of world domination under Islamists. Iran has every intention of using nukes once they have enough to drop on many targets at once. Every action should be taken to undermine this regime as soon as possible and perhaps we have seen signs of this taking place with Stuxnet and various acts of sabotage. There is no shortage of disgruntled Iranians internally who have to endure a horrible life under their “government” and who could be great assistants in bringing down a repressive and murderous regime that will never allow freedom for their people and that will be a threat to its neighbours and the world community until that regime is gone.
