Civil War in Lebanon?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012

by Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi*

Since the recent assassination of the head of intelligence — Wissam al-Hassan, who was known to be aligned with the anti-Syrian March 14 alliance in Lebanese politics — in Beirut, there has been much speculation that the internal conflict in Syria could re-ignite civil war in Lebanon.

Such a line of thought has been raised vis-à-vis Iraq too. Indeed, just as Shi’ite militants from Hezbollah, which is aligned with the pro-Syrian March 8 alliance in government, have been fighting to assist the Assad regime in Syria, so too have Shi’ite militants from Iraq’s Badr Brigades and the Iranian-backed ‘Special Groups’ been heading across the border to fight against the rebels.

Islamism’s Unity

by Daniel Pipes*

A Sept. 14 attack on the U.S. embassy in Tunis left 4 dead, 49 injured, several buildings looted and burnt out, and the black Salafi flag flying above the embassy grounds. In response, the ruling “moderate” Islamist party of Tunisia, Ennahda, forthrightly condemned the incident; Minister of the Interior Ali Larayedh recognized that the government “failed to protect the embassy and we should offer our apologies to the Americans.” Ennahda’s leader, Rachid Ghannouchi, more vehemently condemned the Salafis as a “danger” to freedom and security in Tunisia and called on a fight against them through every legal means.

An interview with Gloria Greenfield, producer of “Unmasked: Judeophobia

By Fern Sidman

For those who have ever pondered the eternal question of why Jew-hatred has reared its ugly head in every generation since time immemorial, filmmaker Gloria Greenfield of Doc Emet Productions enlightens and informs audiences in her riveting, new documentary entitled, Unmasked: Judeophobia. Meticulously researched and brilliantly presented, the film examines the alarming escalation of anti-Jewish animus through the lens of renowned historians, prolific authors, and respected voices in the arena of international law.

Covering this egregious phenomenon from key angles, Ms. Greenfield travels the globe as she assiduously seeks to explore historical Christian and contemporary Islamist polemics against Jews. Moreover, such timely and hot-button topics as the proliferation of anti-Israel bias in academia and cultural institutions, misinformation campaigns, and state-sanctioned calls for the destruction of the Jewish state and the genocide of Jews are treated with the gravitas that they deserve. The film is a clarion call to action and a grim reminder that anti-Semitism is not exclusively a nemesis to Jews, but to the human condition as well.

Humanitarian Hypocrisy

Sunday, October 28th, 2012

by Raymond Ibrahim*

The world’s double standards concerning which peoples qualify as oppressed and deserving of help are staggering. Two recent stories illustrate this point:

First, a report exposed, in the words of the Turkish Coalition of America, “Turkey’s continued interest in expanding business and cultural ties with the American Indian community” and “Turkey’s interest in building bridges to Native American communities across the U.S.” Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla., even introduced a bill that would give Turks special rights and privileges in Native American tribal areas, arguing that “[t]his bill is about helping American Indians,” and about “helping the original inhabitants of the new world, which is exactly what this legislation would do.”

CIA operatives ordered NOT to protect Benghazi U.S. embassy staff

Friday, October 26th, 2012

“Ambassador Chris Stevens asked the State Department repeatedly for more security in Libya before he was killed in the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi…” So we know that the Obama administration knew there was a threat to its diplomatic team in Benghazi, Libya and ignored that threat. Today we find that while American citizens were being attacked by Islamist savages, “U.S. officials” — the Obama administration — ordered CIA operatives not to intervene:

Fox News has learned from sources who were on the ground in Benghazi that an urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the U.S. consulate and subsequent attack several hours later on the annex itself was denied by the CIA chain of command — who also told the CIA operators twice to “stand down” rather than help the ambassador’s team when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m. in Benghazi on Sept. 11. …

[CIA security team member] Woods and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the consulate which at that point was on fire. Shots were exchanged. The rescue team from the CIA annex evacuated those who remained at the consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight.

At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied. There were no communications problems at the annex, according those present at the compound. …

This is an absolute outrage. Because of Obama’s political calculations and conniving, Americans warning of potential security problems were ignored. When they actually did come under attack, Obama et al refused immediate aid not once, but twice.

Israel may be the price for Western resetting of relations with Arabs

By Alexander Maistrovoy

Henry Kissinger’s recent statement that Israel will cease to exist in 10 years borders on senility. Although one of his staff members denied it, Cindy Adams from New York Post insisted, “Reported to me, Henry Kissinger has stated, and I quote the statement word for word, ‘In 10 years, there will be no more Israel.’”

Kissinger is a controversial figure. He can hardly be suspected of excessive sympathy for Israel. He perhaps is inclined to the syndrome of self-hatred so fashionable nowadays amongst the Jewish elite. At the same time, Kissinger is not an exalted pop-diva, cheap populist or rebellious professor. He is an experienced, prudent politician who takes responsibility for his utterances.

What drove him to such a dramatic conclusion? Is there a real and grave threat to Israel?

Obama ‘knew within two hours of the Benghazi murders that the attack was a planned, terrorist strike’ [VIDEO]

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

Breaking from SecureAmericaNow.org:

… Last night, CBS News confirmed Secure America Now’s contention that the Obama Administration knew within two hours of the Benghazi murders that the attack was a planned, terrorist strike against American Ambassador Stevens and three other courageous Americans. …

For one week following the attack, President Obama, Secretary of State Clinton, and United Nation’s Ambassador Susan Rice insisted that an obscure video was to blame. Weeks later, when evidence emerged to the public, proving to the contrary, the Obama administration changed its story, and conceded that terrorism had once again struck America. We are troubled by the administration’s initial reluctance to admit the truth and worse, its subsequent misinformation campaign. …

Romney scores a strategic victory: A media analysis

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

By Fern Sidman

Following Monday evening’s presidential debate, a bevy of media pundits weighed in and declared that GOP presidential contender Governor Mitt Romney scored a strategic victory over President Obama by, “playing it conservatively,” to Obama’s repeatedly aggressive posture. Going into the debate, pundits suggested that Romney’s main objective would be to prove to the American electorate that he was strong and savvy enough to establish himself as a viable leader in the foreign policy arena.

Heroes of Israel: Bankrupting Terror

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012

From the good people at Aish.com, a video showing how, “Nitsana Darshan-Leitner is the voice of the Israeli victims [of Arab terrorism].” She opens by saying, “I’m sick and tired of going to funerals and watching little children saying Kaddish on their parents; even worse, watching parents saying Kaddish on their children. But mostly, I’m sick and tired of sitting in military court watching the defendant from the Hamas who are looking at the judge’s eyes, smiling at him, and promising him that they will win. They will not win; we will win because we fighting for our national survival.” She’s done something about savage “Palestinians” committing acts of terror against Israeli civilians by founding the Israel Law Center. Romney Stumbles on Foreign Policy

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012

by Daniel Pipes*

The final presidential debate focused disproportionately on the Middle East. Four of the six segments were on the Middle East, just two on other topics (one about the U.S. role in the world, the other about China). Egypt was mentioned 11 times, Libya 12 times, Iraq 22 times, Pakistan 25 times, Syria 28 times, Afghanistan 30 times, Israel 34 times, and Iran 47 times. In contrast, the European crisis got no mention, nor did India, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, or Australia.

The Islamic Schoolyard-Bully and Obama’s America

Monday, October 22nd, 2012

by Raymond Ibrahim*

In an era of high education and specialty degrees—from psychology to political science—perhaps it was inevitable for simple common sense to fall by the wayside. The embassy attacks across the Muslim world, especially the most savage in Egypt and Libya, are a testimony to this: U.S. policy towards these countries fundamentally exacerbated their wild reactions. To understand all this, one need only turn to the classic “schoolyard bully” paradigm, that any child can understand.

The Rape and Murder of Pakistan’s Christian Children

Sunday, October 21st, 2012

by Raymond Ibrahim*

The West sighed in relief when Rimsha Masih, the 14-year-old Christian girl arrested in Pakistan on August 16 for allegedly burning pages of the Quran, was finally released. Yet the West remains clueless concerning the graphic abuses—including rape and murder—Christian children in Pakistan routinely suffer, simply for being Christian. Consider two stories alone, both of which occurred at the same time Rimsha’s blasphemy ordeal was making headlines around the world.
