MALDEF, NILC, ACLU Misrepresent DACA in Lawsuit Against Arizona

Friday, November 30th, 2012

By Jon Feere, CIS.org

A coalition of high-immigration activist groups has filed a lawsuit against Arizona over the state’s decision to not issue driver’s licenses to illegal aliens granted deferred action (DACA) by President Obama. In their complaint, the groups misrepresent DACA, inaccurately describing the program’s eligibility criteria. Specifically, the attorneys wrote:

Under DACA, certain DREAMers are eligible to obtain ‘deferred action’ from the federal government upon meeting specific criteria such as the attainment of a high school diploma and passing a rigorous background check including the absence of a criminal record.

This single sentence contains two factual errors about the requirements of the DACA program.

Jewish woman in Iran mutilated over property dispute

Friday, November 30th, 2012

By Fern Sidman

The Iranian city of Isfahan was the scene of a gruesome murder on Monday, November 26th, when a 57-year old Jewish woman identified as Tuba N, was brutally stabbed to death and her body mutilated by Muslim assailants. The alleged motivation for the murder stemmed from a protracted property dispute according to the family of the murdered woman who did not release her last name. Relatives say that Tuba had been consistently harassed for years by her Muslim neighbors in an attempt to drive the family from their home and expropriate the property for an adjoining mosque.

Islamists Exploiting the Interfaith Racket

Thursday, November 29th, 2012

by Hillel Zaremba*

While it is all well and good to encourage the commonalities that unite Americans of all faiths, it is equally important to inquire into the bona fides of organizations that only claim to promote tolerance. Philadelphia presents a sorry but enlightening example of how groups whose agendas directly challenge American values get a free pass from the interfaith establishment due largely to the firmly held belief that “diverse” (and disquieting) viewpoints must be respected — as long as they are Muslim.

A prime example of this is the Mayor’s Office of Faith Based Initiatives (MOFI), “the primary liaison between the Office of the Mayor and Philadelphia’s diverse communities of faith and their leaders.” Despite being provided with evidence of the U.S. government’s case against one of its partners, the terror-linkedCouncil on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the office’s interim director, Reverend Malcolm Byrd, declared: “We will engage with CAIR. … We don’t have to endorse you to work with you.” After reviewing the evidence, MOFI decided to maintain the relationship.

Virulent Jew Hatred at Soccer Match in Rome

Thursday, November 29th, 2012

By Fern Sidman

Following the recent war between Israel and Hamas terrorists in Gaza, Italian soccer fans unfurled a banner reading, “Free Palestine,” at a match last Thursday in Rome when the Italian team Lazio played their British rivals the Tottenham Hotspur. Local media initially blamed Thursday’s attack on hard-core fans or, “ultras,” supporting Lazio, who Tottenham had traveled to the capital to play in the Europa League.

The Tottenham club has a large contingent of Jewish fans. In addition to taunting the British fans with the provocative banner, witnesses told Italian media that masked men armed with knives and baseball bats shouted, “Jews, Jews,” as they laid siege to a pub where the Tottenham supporters were drinking in a district popular with tourists in an old quarter of Rome.

Using Journalism as a Cover to Target Israel at the NY Times

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

by Join the Boycott

The hypocrisy of the NY Times is galling. David Carr (“Using War as a Cover to Target Journalists,” B1, B5, 11/26/12), accuses Israel of deliberately targeting journalists in Gaza. Carr implies that 7 million Israeli civilians (for whom he shows no concern) should continue to risk their lives and huddle in bomb shelters while a few so-called “journalists” go about their busy work generating PLO propaganda in comfort.

Why Is the NY Times Islamist Terrorism’s Apologist?

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

by Phyllis Chesler

Mainly, I lead a quiet, writer’s life. I read, I write, I listen to music, I gaze out my window. Sometimes, I visit a museum or see a movie.

I read two or three books and several manuscripts every week and about one hundred articles and many hundreds of emails every day. I read online and I read hardcopies of the Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, the New York Times, the New York Review of Books, the Jewish media, the feminist media and the conservative media.

I am a thoughtful person. I do not deserve to be misled so purposely and so continuously, day after day, every single day; as well as year after year.

Gaza’s Not the Key, Philadelphi Is

Tuesday, November 27th, 2012

by Daniel Pipes*

The Second Hamas-Israel War of Nov. 10-21 inspired a mighty debate over rights and wrongs, with each side appealing to the large undecided bloc (19 percent of Americans according to CNN/ORC, 38 percent according to Rasmussen). Is Israel a criminal state that has no right to exist, much less to deploy force? Or is it a modern liberal democracy with the rule of law that justifiably protects innocent civilians? Morality drives this debate.

UN: Get your blood-soaked, pro-totalitarian hands off the Internet

Tuesday, November 27th, 2012

by Gary Gerofsky

The world now depends on the free flow of information. What is about to happen at the World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from December 3-14 2012, will surely change the world in ways that most of us cannot imagine. Google is taking a lead in objecting to this massive invasion and grab for control over the now self-controlled Internet; the EU is none too happy either. Some national governments like China, Russia, and Middle Eastern countries, and certain power-hungry agencies such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) want to wrest control of the Internet for a range of very bad reasons. We must speak up to stop the erosion of freedom.

Militant Muslims Cutting Out Tongues

Monday, November 26th, 2012

by Raymond Ibrahim*

Recently on Egyptian TV, Dr. Abdullah Badr, an Al Azhar graduate and professor of Islamic exegesis, proclaimed that a new day has arrived, when there will be absolutely no more toleration for anyone who speaks against Islam—including people who speak against the implementation of Sharia law and its draconian punishments.

Currently on trial for libel and defamation of female Egyptian artist Elham Shahin—whom, among many other derogatory statements, he called a “whore”—an unrepentant Badr, appeared again on TV, and made the following oath:

Palestinian Refugees Languish in Lebanon

Monday, November 26th, 2012

by David Schenker*

“In all but name, Lebanon today is a non-country,” wrote the Lebanese historian Kamal Salibi in 1989.[1] A weak state racked with sectarian and political divisions, there is little on which Lebanese people can agree. One rare issue on which they seemed to have formed an enduring consensus, however, is that of the Palestinians. While Sunnis, Shiites, Christians, and Druze alike condemn Israel and support the “liberation” of Palestine with alacrity, few of them have historically supported expanding rights and improving the dire conditions of the estimated 400,000 Palestinian refugees within Lebanese borders.[2] Not only is discussion of tawtin—or settlement—of these refugees in Lebanon a taboo, since 1990, it has also been unconstitutional. As one Palestinian wryly noted, the Lebanese “are all with Palestine, but against the Palestinians.”[3]

With few if any local advocates, Palestinian refugees in Lebanon have come to depend on the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) as their sole source of support and protection. Unfortunately for them, UNRWA has not proved up to the task.

LA Times Anti-Israel Bias is Malicious

Sunday, November 25th, 2012

By Join the Boycott

Rule #1 of the anti-Israel media, fanatically followed by the LA Times: Israel is always the aggressor no matter what and even if it means changing the facts.

In the LA Times from Thursday, November 22, Edmund Sanders reported:

…even after the cease-fire went into effect about half a dozen rockets were fired into Israel.

See also the Jerusalem Post.

But in the LA Times from Saturday, November 24, the same Edmund Sanders reported the following after suspected PLO infiltrators were shot at on the Gaza border:

The [Israeli] shootings marked the first episode of violence since the cease-fire took effect…

When the same reporter lies about facts he reported 2 days earlier, to falsely make Israel look bad as the aggressor and first breaker of the cease-fire, the bias is malicious.

The anti-semites at the LA Times are just a step away from denying the Holocaust. Subscribers please call 1-800-252-9141 to cancel your subscription and let us know at jointheboycott@inbox.com.

Operation Pillar of Defense: In Support of a Ground Offensive

Saturday, November 24th, 2012

by Efraim Inbar and Max Singer*

For nearly a week, Israel has been under attack from terrorist elements in Gaza, primarily Hamas. As the Israeli air force and navy respond with surgical, targeted strikes on Hamas facilities, the government is weighing the possibility of ordering a ground offensive too.

In our view, an armored push into Gaza in order to deal the Hamas military wing a decisive blow is necessary. From a strategic, long-term perspective, Israel cannot avoid confronting Hamas head-on, and must take action sooner rather than later. For Israel to restore quiet to its borders and ensure its survival in the new Middle East, Arab governments and terror organizations must feel that it would be a mistake for them to militarily challenge Israel. Israel must demonstrate that even in the face of great political pressures it is strong enough and willing, when necessary, to take vigorous action.

Case Against ‘Innocence of Muslims’ Filmmaker Raises Eyebrows

Friday, November 23rd, 2012

by Adam Turner*

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, (or Mark Basseley Youssef) the American Coptic filmmaker partly responsible for the film clip that President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice initially and incorrectly blamed for inciting the terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that killed the American Ambassador and three other Americans, was recently sentenced to a one year prison term for violating his probation.

On September 27, in the midst of the tumult in the Muslim world, Nakoula was arrested in the middle of the night from his home in the Los Angeles area for violating his probation for a 2010 bank-fraud conviction. The media was conveniently present to record his “perp walk” to the Sheriff’s office, which was broadcast worldwide. Nakoula spent slightly over a month in solitary confinement, being held without bond at the Los Angeles Metropolitan Detention Center. On November 7, the day after the U.S. elections, his trial was finally held. He admitted to lying to his probation officer and three allegations of using false identities in exchange for his prosecutors dropping four allegations of using false identities. Nakoula was sentenced to one year in prison, instead of the two years recommended by his probation officers. The judge specifically rejected the idea of home confinement.

Radical Islamist turns ardent Zionist: The story of Kasim Hafeez

Friday, November 23rd, 2012

By Fern Sidman

On Thursday evening, November 15th, an audience of several hundred people sat in rapt attention at Temple Israel on New York City’s Upper East Side, as they heard the compelling narrative of a most unusual man. Kasim Hafeez, 28, is a British born Muslim of Pakistani descent who was raised in an environment where he was taught that, “Jews control the world, and Israel is at fault for just about everything.” As many other young Muslims in the United Kingdom, he embraced the teachings of radical Islam and internalized the visceral hatred for Israel that is endemic to this philosophy.

Growing up in a home where his father praised Adolf Hitler as a, “brilliant man,” whose only shortcoming was that he, “didn’t kill enough Jews,” Mr. Hafeez was being groomed to be yet another virulent Israel basher, but this life trajectory was abruptly derailed when he decided to undertake some serious research on the political history of Israel. Today, the Nottingham-based university administrator addresses audiences around the globe about the epiphany of truth that changed his life. He is being sponsored by the premier North American pro-Israel student advocacy organization, StandWithUs.
