Hillary Clinton’s email scandal: media bias and the fall of a candidate

Wednesday, March 30th, 2016

UPDATE: “Federal prosecutors investigating the possible mishandling of classified materials on Hillary Clinton’s private email server have begun the process of setting up formal interviews with some of her longtime and closest aides … Prosecutors also are expected to seek an interview with Clinton herself …”

“… the [Washington] Post summation makes clear that the mainstream press had almost nothing to do with uncovering the truth or advancing the story [of Hillary's email scandal]. …

So says Investor’s Business Daily (IBD) in an erudite op-ed headline story entitled “Clinton Email Scandal: How A Biased Press Tried To Ignore It.” Is it acceptable — even surprising — for many mainstream media titans to have willfully attempted to manipulate the outcome of a U.S. presidential election? Obviously, it is not acceptable — and I see more bias in “journalism” now than I ever have in my life. If Hillary Clinton were an average American, i.e., not a member of powerful dynastic family nor a former holder of high office, she would have already been indicted for damaging national security — at least have been forced to withdraw her candidacy for the U.S. presidency. (Our current two-party system has created many obstacles to prevent “little” or “average” people from getting anywhere near a position in high public office.) IBD editors paint a detailed, sordid, and well-documented portrait of America’s news media blatantly clearing a path for Hillary, whom they knew was and is most likely a felon, to become President of the United States:

… No one reading the [Washington] Post’s 5,000-word account can come away thinking that the Clinton email scandal is unimportant.

The FBI now has 147 agents chasing down leads. A key person involved in the scandal has been granted immunity. Hillary Clinton — who has already been caught in several lies — might be questioned by federal agents. There are fairly obvious violations of the law, even if it’s just those governing record-keeping. And there were, and continue to be, concerns that national security secrets were compromised, or at least casually disregarded. …

IBD does rightfully credit the Washington Post for reporting so thoroughly on Clinton’s flagrant flaunting of national security protocols. IBD itself appears 5th in a list of the “Top 5 U.S. Daily Newspapers with Paywalls” and 11th in a list of the “Top 25 U.S. Daily Newspaper Digital Editions.” We do thankfully still have at least some semblance of a free press. It is ironic that most media bias is driven by a philosophical/political agenda or plain greed, and is generally not a result of government coercion.

Hillary’s ability to, at least so far, walk on water is a symptom of the sad state of affairs in American politics: 1) too many citizens have disengaged from voting and grassroots activism, willfully or passively shirking their civic duty to protect democracy; and, 2) because citizens have disengaged, the U.S. has developed a professional political elite class, beholden mostly to the lobbyists with the fattest wallets and seeking to stay in office forever. George Orwell concluded his brilliant treatise Animal Farm with these words (you can read the whole book here):

… All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. … Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

As a nation, we’ve allowed some citizens to be more equal than others. We’ve allowed certain power-hungry individuals to obtain much more control over fellow citizens than our Founders intended (“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal…”). Letting another Clinton walk upon water would be an enormous mistake and would set a very undemocratic precedent. But there still may be hope.

Our national government still has some checks and balances. When Hillary and then-Senator Barack Obama were vying against each other for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008, the two candidates and campaigns often traded vitriolic and acrimonious barbs. These solar system-sized egos bruise easily. Hillary has often distanced herself from Obama during the current 2016 race. The FBI is currently conducting a large-scale investigation of Clinton. As headlines continually announce new revelations of Hillary’s alleged crimes, the pressure will mount on the White House to steer clear of meddling with the FBI’s investigation:

A former U.S. attorney predicted this week that Hillary Clinton “will not make it to the finish line” in 2016 because she will soon be facing a criminal indictment from the FBI. During an appearance on Laura Ingraham’s radio show Tuesday, famed attorney Joseph DiGenova said that the FBI has “reached a critical mass in their investigation of the secretary and all of her senior staff” and predicted that it would come to a head “in the next 60 days.”

DiGenova, who rose to national prominence during the Clinton scandals of the ’90s, told Ingraham that if Attorney General Loretta Lynch refuses to indict Clinton, there will be a “massive revolt inside the FBI, which she will not be able to survive as an Attorney General.”

FBI Director James Comey has not indicated when his agents will wrap up their months-long probe into Clinton’s possibly illegal “homebrew” email server, but during a Senate hearing last month, he said the FBI doesn’t “give a rip about politics” and that President Obama has not been briefed on the investigation.

DiGenova said that the FBI already “has so much information about criminal conduct by her and her staff that there is no way that they walk away from this.” …

Hillary’s “Emailgate” is ethically too big to sweep under the carpet. Will it be too big politically to sweep under the rug?

Murder of innocents: ‘Muslims kill dogs and puppies with acid injections’

Friday, January 22nd, 2016

By Andrew L. Jaffee

Islamic traditions from the Hadith prohibit Islamists from owning or engaging with dogs, with certain exceptions. Not only are dogs abhorred but they are brutally killed.

It is important to understand that no PETA, Human Society, SPCA, animal rights or rescue groups exist in Islamic countries.

No legal protections against animal cruelty exist in Islamic countries where the common practice is killing dogs and puppies with acid injections. Acid chemically burns and destroys internal organs and tissues while also causing extreme metabolic disturbance (acidosis) and brutally, painfully kills the animal. …

Thanks to Bethany Blankley of Constitution.com for educating us on the historical/cultural practice of animal cruelty routinely inflicted by Islamists. She found contemporary audio-visual evidence of Muslims perpetrating — and reveling in — whole-scale, premeditated torture of animals. Blankley documented Islamic jurisprudence from the Hadith “justifying” cruelty against animals, and of course cruelty against non-Muslims (or Muslims who don’t fit certain “rules” of orthodoxy).

Oh, what horror of horrors — unadulterated evil — committed against the purest of innocents, little sweet mutts and puppies, by Muslims. Many Americans have come to know what unspeakable ultra-violence comes from the Muslim world on a daily basis, but when they see the video in this post, they will be shocked beyond belief. Yes, this video is incredibly disturbing, but civilized people must know the truth — especially with a foolish U.S. president and congress allowing “nearly 300,000 Muslim migrants [into the U.S.] in the next 12 months alone, including roughly 170,000 who will be permanently resettled within the country.”

“WARNING: animal cruelty and torture of dogs is seen and heard on this video.”

On Islamic rationalization of terror against living beings:

… In Sahih Al-Bukhari Volume 7, Book 77, Hadith 843, Islamists are warned, “Angels will not enter a house that contains a dog …”

From Sahih Muslim, Book 10, Hadith 3813, Jabir bin Abdullah explains:

“Allah’s Messenger … ordered us to kill dogs, and we carried out this order so much so that we also killed a dog coming with a woman from the desert. Then Allah’s Apostle … forbade their killing. He [the Holy Prophet further] said: ‘It is [however] your duty to kill the jet-black [dog] having two spots [on the eyes], for it is a devil.’” …

However, the fact remains that “moderate Muslims” and Shari’a law provide no protections for dogs from being tortured and killed from acid injections. And the same is true for people.

Several Islamic countries enforce a hijab dress code only for women, and violators are punished with “acid attacks.”

Extra-judicial enforcement of hijab rules includes what human rights activists call “Vigilante Violence,” or acid attacks. Numerous incidents have been reported of unidentified men “flinging acid into the faces of women with whom they had no history of personal grudges.” Assailants claim they were defending hijab.

If not killed, those leaving Islam and/or have converted to Christianity are also attacked with acid.

Infosys Fine Highlights Needed Immigration Reforms

Monday, November 4th, 2013

By John Miano, CIS.org

Infosys has agreed to pay a record $34 million dollar fine for visa abuse. Infosys was circumventing the H-1B quota by bringing foreign workers in under B visitor visas instead. Such foreign workers have to return home every few months to renew their visas.

This is a very common practice throughout the industry — and it is not just the Indian companies that are doing it. When I worked for the now-defunct American company Digital Equipment, they were doing the exact same thing.

Here are some points that this raises:

Newtown school demolition: Sensitivity or coverup?

Tuesday, October 15th, 2013

What’s going on at the site of the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre? Is this really about “respect” or is the area being sanitized? Food for thought:

Contractors demolishing Sandy Hook Elementary School are being required to sign confidentiality agreements forbidding public discussion of the site, photographs or disclosure of any information about the building where 26 people were fatally shot last December.

Selectman Will Rodgers said officials want to protect the Newtown school where the 20 children and six educators were killed, The News-Times reported (http://bit.ly/1amzP8L).

“It’s a very sensitive topic,” he said Monday. “We want it to be handled in a respectful way.”

Project manager Consigli Construction has barricaded the property and intends to screen the perimeter to prevent onlookers from taking photographs. Full-time security guards will ensure the site is not disturbed.

Families of the victims and school staff visited the site, but public access is barred.

The precautions exceed those at other construction sites, town officials said.

Jim Juliano, a member of the Public Building and Site Commission, said he initially considered whether the heightened precautions might be excessive. But he believes extra vigilance is needed to shield Sandy Hook families and the community from exploitation. …

And add this:

… Background checks for the construction crews may be done. …

Jihadist Ritual Murder and Mutilation at the Mall

Wednesday, October 9th, 2013

by Dawn Perlmutter*

During the four-day siege in Kenya’s Westgate shopping Mall al-Shabaab jihadists raped, tortured, beheaded, dismembered, castrated, gouged out eyes, amputated fingers and hung hostages on hooks from the roof. According to a forensic medical doctor, “They [the al-Shabaab attackers] removed eyes, ears, noses. Fingers are cut by pliers, noses ripped by pliers”… “Those are not allegations. Those are f****** truths,”… “They removed balls, eyes, ears, nose. They get your hand and sharpen it like a pencil then they tell you to write your name with the blood. They drive knives inside a child’s body. Actually, if you look at all the bodies, unless those ones that were escaping, fingers are cut by pliers, the noses are ripped by pliers.” There were also reports that hostages were beheaded and their heads thrown out of the windows.

Prelude to the Boston Bombings

Thursday, October 3rd, 2013

by Dawn Perlmutter*

On September 11, 2011, three lifelong friends—Brendan Mess, age 25, Erik Weissman, 31, and Raphael Teken, 37—were brutally murdered in Mess’s apartment in Waltham, Massachusetts. The graphic crime scene was discovered in the early afternoon of September 12, 2011, by Mess’s girlfriend, who ran screaming from the apartment. The victims had been dragged to three different rooms and killed there. Their bodies had multiple stab wounds; their throats were slit from ear to ear with such force that they were nearly decapitated, and their mutilated corpses were covered with drugs and money. In addition to the seven pounds of marijuana found on their bodies, $5,000 in cash was left at the scene. Two of the three victims were Jewish, and several sources have identified all three victims as such.[1]

I grieve for the Naval Yard victims, but I must act now to protect gun rights

Tuesday, September 17th, 2013

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, families and friends of those lost to the senseless mass murder at the Washington Naval Yard on Tuesday. But I must grieve briefly because the power-mongers of our nation will use this tragedy to try to take away our guns even though guns would’ve stopped yesterday’s slaughter. The massacre happened at a military installation. If our good people in the U.S. military were allowed to carry their sidearms, yesterday’s evil murder-spree would’ve been stopped almost instantly. (If you’ve read enough, ACT NOW.) It’s almost incomprehensible, but:

… Among President Clinton’s first acts upon taking office in 1993 was to disarm U.S. soldiers on military bases. In March 1993, the Army imposed regulations forbidding military personnel from carrying their personal firearms and making it almost impossible for commanders to issue firearms to soldiers in the U.S. for personal protection. For the most part, only military police regularly carry firearms on base, and their presence is stretched thin by high demand for MPs in war zones. …

Do we take away carpenters’ hammers while they’re putting up a new house? Think about this:

Four Levels of Immorality Within the Illegal Immigration Business

Monday, August 12th, 2013

By David North, CIS.org

The grim story of some illegal aliens being forced out of a ship onto a booby-trapped desert island reminded me that there are different levels of immoral conduct in the illegal alien business — I will get back to the island later.

Everyone involved in illegal immigration is, of course, playing a harmful role to the host society, but some of the players are even more unattractive than others. And some classes of players are much more numerous than others.

“Dog Logic” and the Senate’s Immigration Bill

Saturday, June 1st, 2013

By W.D. Reasoner, CIS.org

[Oppose immigration amnesty in 4 easy steps]

Two dogs share my home; they’re wonderful companions for empty-nesters such as my wife and me. They have worked their way into our hearts in ways we didn’t expect. Our grown children get a big charge out of that. They accuse use of having let the dogs become surrogate kids and suggest half-seriously that they won’t be surprised when we begin calling the dogs by their names.

To inoculate myself in advance against that charge, I have reminded them that my mother, in an astounding display of free-association, frequently commingled the names of children and dogs in her own household, both before and after my siblings and I serially grew up and left home — a hilarious fact my kids know well, having observed it for themselves over the years in their interactions with grandma. I have suggested therefore, that if this happens with me, it’s genetic and I can’t be held accountable.

Muslim Acts of Beheading in the West

Friday, May 24th, 2013

by Daniel Pipes*

The gruesome murder yesterday of a soldier outside London by a Muslim convert, Michael Adebolajo, brings to mind that throat slitting and beheading are Islamically sanctioned forms of execution. Although these occur particularly often in the course of family-related crimes — think, for example, of the case of Aasiya Hassan in suburban Buffalo, N.Y., killed by her husband in 2009, stabbed with two hunting knives more than forty times in the face, back and chest, then beheaded — this monstrous form of violence is also used in non-family instances. Some of those that took place over the past decade in the West in chronological order include:

Obama menacing free press: First the AP, now Fox News

Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013

First we found out that President Obama’s “Justice Department used a secret subpoena to obtain two months of phone records for Associated Press reporters and editors without notifying the news organization,” a move which AP President and CEO Gary Pruitt called a “‘massive and unprecedented intrusion’ into news-gathering operations.” Pruitt also “on Sunday called the Justice Department’s actions ‘unconstitutional’ and said the AP hasn’t ruled out legal action.” The head of the Project on Government Oversight, Danielle Brian, said “The Justice Department’s seizure of the Associated Press’ phone records is Nixonian.” Now we find that this was not the Obama administration’s only instance of menacing actions towards the media — and an attack on the First Amendment. We’ve now learned that the “Obama administration spied on Fox News reporter James Rosen:”

Schumer-Rubio Amnesty Would Legalize 45 Percent of ICE Criminal Caseload

Tuesday, May 21st, 2013

By Stanley Renshon, CIS.org

[ACT NOW to stop immigration amnesty from destroying the American dream]

One of the most alarming effects of the Schumer-Rubio amnesty, if enacted in anything close to its current form, would be the legalization of tens of thousands of illegal aliens who have already been a public safety threat in their community. The eligibility criteria established for the amnesty and most of the new guestworker provisions excuse a wide variety of criminal behavior, including gang membership, drunk driving, vehicular manslaughter, identity theft, and immigration fraud (see this analysis). In addition, the bill offers amnesty to those who have repeatedly and flagrantly violated immigration laws.

“Immigration Reform” Equals Amnesty for Illegal Aliens and Their Employers

Monday, May 6th, 2013

By Ronald W. Mortensen, CIS.org

am·nes·ty (am-nuh-stee) an act of forgiveness for past offenses, especially to a class of persons as a whole.

Synonym: par·don (pahr-dn) a release from the penalty of an offense; forgiveness of a serious offense or offender; to release (a person) from liability for an offense; to remit the penalty of (an offense)

Led by Senator Marco Rubio, the “Gang of Eight” is attempting to hide the fact that their “comprehensive immigration reform” bill would provide amnesty for illegal aliens and their employers.

Rubio argues that illegal aliens would not be forgiven of past, harmless infractions, but would be required to pay for them. However, a review of the bill shows that the token penalties, when they do exist, are not commensurate with the employment-related felonies committed by the vast majority of illegal aliens, nor are they commensurate with the benefits received by illegal aliens. The penalties are, therefore, no more than thinly veiled attempts to hide the amnesty provisions of S. 744.

Citizens should be able to purchase and own high-capacity magazines

Saturday, May 4th, 2013

Some people seem to be perplexed as to why a gun owner would want a high-capacity magazine for his/her weapon. A “magazine” or “clip” is a cartridge that holds the bullets that a gun can fire. The gun know-nothings ask their capacity question as if only a lunatic would want to fire more than 5 bullets before reloading. These people have no idea what they’re talking about. They’re certainly not the type of person you’d want to have defending you during a home invasion. When push comes to shove, you’re defending your own life and/or that of family, friends, and compatriots, handling a gun is not like it seems on TV. Guns are not easy to aim, handle, or reload — especially when lives are at stake. It can take years of practicing, training, or both to become proficient with a self-defense weapon. It can be difficult to neutralize an opponent, especially if he/she is moving, has superior firepower, he/she has armed accomplices, and you’re all pumped up with adrenaline and emotion (fear). Instead of trying to write an explanation of why you’d want a high-capacity magazine, watch the following public service announcement created by MB Studio Productions. If you have brains, you’ll understand. If you don’t understand, there are explanations (“In a gunfight, being able to reload with new magazines is a real advantage, and this is why police officers and licensed civilians regularly carry spare magazines for their pistols.”). If you do not want to understand, then go join the the rest of sheep who are deluded into thinking that only mercenaries should be allowed to protect the common good of this nation:

Nothing Good Left Untouched: Senate Bill Puts National Security, Public Safety at Risk

Thursday, May 2nd, 2013

By W.D. Reasoner, CIS.org

I’ve been closely reading the Gang of Eight immigration reform bill introduced into the Senate (the “Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act”). And I have to admit the more I read, the more I feel sullied. To say it is deeply flawed is a sad understatement, like describing a catastrophic category-5 hurricane as a “bad storm”.
