Introspection on how ‘Trump Could Win It All’

Saturday, January 16th, 2016

By Andrew L. Jaffee

Editor’s note: This is not an endorsement or a denouncement of Donald Trump. The author is seeking insight into the popularity and success of Trump as a political candidate.

Donald Trump’s ability to draw a crowd has flabbergasted even one of left-leaning MSNBC’s talk-show hosts, Joe Scarborough, who took to national airwaves to say the billionaire is beating all records — that his ability to pack a room with eager listeners exceeds anything even much-loved Ronald Reagan could do. …

“I saw Reagan come to Pensacola twice in 1980. I saw the crowds. I never saw anything like that in my hometown before. …”

Earlier this week, Trump attracted “a capacity crowd of nearly 12,000 at the Pensacola Bay Center on Florida’s panhandle.” Pensacola has a population of about 53,000 souls. Many, many Americans are fed up with, angry at, and/or disillusioned with Washington. It was not surprising to see a U.S. News & World Report story stating that “Trump Could Win It All: A new survey shows a sizable number of Democrats ready to defect from Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump.” Another recent study found that “Polls may actually underestimate Trump’s support” among Republican voters, showing that 40% may back The Donald. Whether people like Trump or not, agree with him or disagree, he has been willing to highlight some of this country’s most vexing — and to some, “controversial” — problems, like immigration and terrorism. He has proposed some controversial solutions to this nation’s predicaments. The vocabulary Trump has used in speaking about America’s dilemmas has been, prima facie and at times offensive, vague, and inaccurate. The terminology Trump has used when elucidating his proposals for resolving this country’s crises — and the logic behind his proposals — have also been, at times and prima facie irrational, offensive, vague, and inaccurate. Putting politically correct disclaimers aside, Trump’s rhetoric and platform are likely resonating harmonically with many Americans’ very well-founded concerns about the existential threats to this great republic.

Therein lies the rub: many Americans (71%) are tired of political correctness being shoved down their throats; tired of a narcissistic congress working for lobbyists and ignoring constituents; tired of a megalomaniac president; tired of watching an entitlement-seeking mob drag down a once-great republic; and tired of a mainstream media pumping out propaganda and morally bankrupt “entertainment.” Yes, Virginia, there is a “silent majority” and they don’t want to be betrayed again by some Washington insider(s). They are interested in listening to someone like Trump who isn’t owned by anybody and doesn’t need anyone else’s money. These are qualities that appeal to decent American folks — qualities now abhorrent to many of America’s power-brokers (they have to own their peons).

Islamic terrorist incidents in the U.S. and Obama says we’re “safe”

Saturday, January 9th, 2016

By Andrew L. Jaffee

President Obama’s claim that the “U.S. is safe from a Paris-style attack from ISIS and that American law enforcement is well equipped to protect the nation” is foolish, obviously inaccurate, and downright misleading. Obama “repeatedly claims we’re safer than ever.” It seems unlikely that Americans are buying Obama’s obfuscations. Just today, a man was charged with attempting to kill a Philadelphia police officer “in the name of Islam.” The Islamic terrorist suspect, shown in the video below taken Friday, “had pledged his allegiance to ISIS.” Also today, we learned of the “arrest of two Iraq-born refugees on terror-related charges” which has rightfully “recharged Capitol Hill calls for the Obama administration to pull back on plans to welcome thousands more refugees from Middle East warzones.”

Even unabashed supporters of the president — like CNN — are reporting the obvious regarding his false assurances:

… [Obama's] comments came amid reports that the FBI is investigating ISIS sympathizers across the nation and a new study shows support for the terrorist group has reached unprecedented levels domestically. …

“A man ambushed a Philadelphia police officer, pumping bullets at point blank range.”

After being attacked by an Islamist thug yesterday, a badly wounded Philadelphia police officer, Jesse Hartnett, bravely took care of the terrorist. He should be commended for his courage. Note that Hartnett fought back with a gun. Note that “Officials also say the gun used in the crime, a 9mm Glock 17, had been stolen from a police officer’s home in 2013…,” reminding us that President Obama’s unconstitutional executive orders regarding “gun control” would have done nothing to stop the Philadelphia perpetrator. All of the president’s “gun control” efforts, and the efforts of his “gun control” allies, will solely make it harder for law-abiding citizens to purchase firearms.

Today’s events serve as a stark reminder to all citizens who cherish freedom: Our liberties are being attacked from within our borders and from without. We’re not “safe” from Islamic terrorism, contrary to President Obama’s meaningless assurances. To literally add insult to injury, the president is attacking our ability to protect ourselves, to protect our loved ones, and to protect this nation.

Common sense: good people with guns stop attempted mass shootings

Thursday, December 10th, 2015

(The core events highlighted in this article were reported earlier this year, but are very prescient now. The poll numbers presented herein were released last week and in October.)

A good guy — a law-abiding citizen — with a gun stopped a bad guy with a gun. Simple. Two mass shootings were stopped immediately, once in March in Philadelphia and again in April in Chicago. Breitbart compiled a list of 16 incidents “between November 30, 2014, and January 13, 2015″ where “armed citizens [used] guns to defend their lives and the lives of others.”

The Second Amendment ensures that citizens can protect themselves, protect the common good, and protect the rights afforded us by our Constitution. Common sense Americans understand the responsibility that comes with gun ownership — unlike the folks flocking to give up their rights, surrendering their ability to protect their loved ones and their way of life, and looking for a free ride from big government bureaucracy. While the police may be able to rush to the scene of a crime in progress, it may take them (many) minutes to arrive. An armed citizen can react in seconds (and I urge armed citizens to seek training in the use of firearms and to be sure they practice and hone their skills).

The “leaders” of the “gun control” movement want nothing less than completely dis-empowering good people. Many followers of the “gun control” movement leadership are just plain afraid — probably of just about everything — and want someone else to protect them (do they even understand their constitutional rights?). The facts:

Here’s how good citizens with guns protected other citizens:

Gun Owners of America: “Paul Ryan Would be ‘Boehner on Steroids’”

Friday, October 16th, 2015

By Andrew L. Jaffee

Over the years, I’ve come to know that Gun Owners of America (GOA) is one of the most effective pro-Second Amendment groups in the U.S. I urge you to heed their caution and take action regarding the next Speaker of the U.S. House. The GOA rightfully points out that, while it was great for us to get rid of Speaker Boehner, we certainly don’t want Boehner to hand-pick his own anti-gun successor:

ACTION: Click here to tell your Congressman that you do NOT support any Congressman for House Speaker — including Rep. Paul Ryan — who is willing to compromise on Second Amendment rights!

Tell your Representative to Vote NO on Ryan

They said it couldn’t be done.

But, through your activism, you put pressure on sell-out Speaker John Boehner and helped bring his career to an unlamented end.

But there’s still work to be done.

Lest you think that things couldn’t get worse, one of the top candidates to replace Boehner is the compromising Wisconsin Representative Paul Ryan (R).

Ryan voted for the Thompson-King amendment last year — an anti-gun amendment that would add an additional $19.5 million to pay states to turn in more names to the federal gun-ban (NICS) list.

Already, more than 175,000 law-abiding veterans have lost their Second Amendment rights this way.  And, in states like New York, this money will pay to strip Americans of their constitutional rights, merely because they consult a psychiatrist and are prescribed a therapeutic drug.

Ryan has not had many tough (recorded) votes on guns, but the things HE WANTS to do should scare you.

All ‘gun control’ legislation defeated in the 2014 New Mexico Legislative Session

Friday, February 21st, 2014

By Andrew L. Jaffee, Publisher

New Mexico’s 2014 state legislative session ended yesterday and all “gun control” measures introduced during session died thanks to grassroots opposition.

HB 44 – FIREARM TRANSFER ACT, HR 3 – PROHIBIT FIREARMS IN HOUSE, and SR 1 – PROHIBIT FIREARMS IN SENATE all were stopped cold during this session. Thanks to all the good people who voiced their opposition to these measures by visiting their representatives, emailing them (26,913 emails sent just using our page), faxing them, calling them… They lobbied the governor’s office intensively. There’s so many people to thank, like the New Mexico Gun Owners Association (NMGOA), the Del Norte Gun Club, and the New Mexico Conservatives for Freedom, that it would take pages to praise everyone’s efforts. Thanks to Governor Susana Martinez (R) for concentrating on the budget and not calling HB 44. Thanks to representatives like Yvette Herrell (R) who took a firm and vocal stand against the 2014 “gun control” measures.

Local police departments getting military-grade equipment

Wednesday, November 27th, 2013

There is a disturbing trend in what I had assumed to be the “home of the brave; land of the free:” The federal government is distributing military-grade equipment to state and local law enforcement across the country. It seems that many in government and law enforcement have started to see their own countrymen as a threat. President Obama hasn’t helped the situation by pushing gun control, using the NSA to spy on his own citizens, using the IRS to persecute his political opponents, supporting terrorist groups in the Middle East, having an attorney general who “use[d] Trayvon Martin to attack the 2nd Amendment,” … Should I go on? From Fox News:

From war zones to city streets, some military vehicles are getting a new life — and not everyone is happy about the recycling.

The Defense Department recently announced it would be giving domestic law enforcement forces hulking vehicles designed to efficiently maneuver in a war zone for use in thwarting any potential high-scale activity. …

Colorado Gov. tells gun control groups to ‘stay away’

Monday, October 14th, 2013

Gun control “activists” have had a really bad time trying to take away American citizens’ rights to protect themselves — and I explain in detail below, giving you all the info you need to protect gun rights. But the latest blow to “gun control” (the dis-empowering of good people) was made by non-other than the Democratic governor of Colorado:

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper suggests national gun-control groups stay away from a looming recall battle that could switch control of the state Senate to the GOP. The groups poured money into an unsuccessful defense of two state lawmakers recalled over their gun votes earlier this year.

“Colorado is a state that people like to be themselves and solve their own problems,” the Democratic governor said in an interview with Capital Download, USA TODAY’s weekly video newsmaker series. “They don’t really like outside organizations meddling in their affairs, and maybe the NRA gets a pass on that.

“But (it is) probably not a bad idea” for gun-control groups, such as the one established by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, to curb their efforts if gun-rights activists collect enough signatures to force a recall vote on state Sen. Evie Hudak, a two-term Democrat from a suburban district north of Denver, he said.

If Republicans succeed in gaining her seat, Democrats would lose their 18-17 edge in the state Senate.

Petition organizers have until Dec. 3 to collect 18,900 signatures. “They’re well-funded and there’s a lot of energy behind this, a lot of frustration,” Hickenlooper said. “I’m going to guess it’s probably 50-50″ that they will be able to get the recall vote on the ballot.

But, he noted, “I didn’t think they’d get enough signatures for the first two.”

(Ed. note: Our emphasis added.)

Michael Bloomberg, mayor of New York City, billionaire, desiring to rewrite the constitution, and countrywide buttinski suffered a major “gun control” loss in June in Nevada. He and his pet group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), “spent hundreds of thousands of dollars” to buy passage of the Nevada state legislature’s bill SB 221, another dangerous piece of gun control legislation dressed up to look palatable by applying the innocuous-sounding “background check” label to it. Bloomberg lost, and lost big-time, not because of a paid opposition wading in money, but because of a viral grass-roots effort organized by average Americans provided with information by several pro-Second Amendment advocacy groups. Bloom-baby: Money can’t buy you love.

Write To Congress With One Click: No Gun Control

Tuesday, September 17th, 2013

Say “NO” to another attempt by President Obama and certain members of Congress to disarm Americans (e.g., create a national gun registry, confiscate “assault weapons” which aren’t assault weapons, limit magazine sizes, etc). Click here or on any of the images below, enter a little personal info, press the red “Submit My Petition” button, and the National Association for Gun Rights will immediately deliver your “No Gun Control, No Deals” letter to your House rep and two Senators. The letter you’ll be sending is shown below:

I grieve for the Naval Yard victims, but I must act now to protect gun rights

Tuesday, September 17th, 2013

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, families and friends of those lost to the senseless mass murder at the Washington Naval Yard on Tuesday. But I must grieve briefly because the power-mongers of our nation will use this tragedy to try to take away our guns even though guns would’ve stopped yesterday’s slaughter. The massacre happened at a military installation. If our good people in the U.S. military were allowed to carry their sidearms, yesterday’s evil murder-spree would’ve been stopped almost instantly. (If you’ve read enough, ACT NOW.) It’s almost incomprehensible, but:

… Among President Clinton’s first acts upon taking office in 1993 was to disarm U.S. soldiers on military bases. In March 1993, the Army imposed regulations forbidding military personnel from carrying their personal firearms and making it almost impossible for commanders to issue firearms to soldiers in the U.S. for personal protection. For the most part, only military police regularly carry firearms on base, and their presence is stretched thin by high demand for MPs in war zones. …

Do we take away carpenters’ hammers while they’re putting up a new house? Think about this:

If you care about gun rights, you must act on Heller

Wednesday, August 14th, 2013

If you are a gun rights supporter and already know about the court case of the District of Columbia v. Heller, then go to this link and take “ACTION: Urge your Senators to oppose the anti-gun ‘nuclear option’ to blow up the Senate rules. Tell them that any vote in favor of weakening the filibuster rules for judicial confirmations will ultimately result in a reversal of the Heller case and [be] a body-blow to the Second Amendment.”

If you’re unfamiliar with the Heller case, read on. From the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) in 2008:

NRA Responds to Attacks on “Stand Your Ground” Laws

Sunday, July 21st, 2013

By the NRA-ILA

[Ed. note: Get your Second Amendment Supporters' Toolkit]

A few days after a jury acquitted George Zimmerman in the death of Trayvon Martin, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was busy exploiting the trial outcome by attacking “stand‑your‑ground” self-defense laws.

As reported by Fox News, during a speech at the NAACP’s annual convention, Holder said, “Separate and apart from the case that has drawn the nation’s attention, it’s time to question laws that senselessly expand the concept of self-defense and sow dangerous conflict in our neighborhoods.”

In response to Holder’s remarks, NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox had this to say: “The attorney general fails to understand that self-defense is not a concept, it’s a fundamental human right. To send a message that legitimate self-defense is to blame is unconscionable, and demonstrates once again that this administration will exploit tragedies to push their political agenda.”

Holder and the Obama administration will surely continue to push to overturn “stand your ground” self-defense laws in the future. Rest assured NRA-ILA will be there to fight them. We will continue to work to protect self-defense laws currently on the books and advocate for their passage in those states that do not fully respect this fundamental right.

NAGR Wins Legal Battle Over Right to Carry

Friday, July 19th, 2013

The National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) is proud to report that a federal judge in Denver ruled on Thursday that it was unlawful for the U.S. Postal Service to ban firearms in their parking lot.

“The federal judge made the right decision in recognizing Americans’ Second Amendment rights,” said Dudley Brown, Executive Vice President of the National Association for Gun Rights. “It’s a shame we have to go to court to protect our right to bear arms, but we will fight every time the government attempts to infringe on the rights of law-abiding gun owners.”

Second Amendment Supporters’ Toolkit

Thursday, July 4th, 2013

This article contains all the tools you need to protect the right to bear arms. Even though gun ownership is protected by the Second Amendment of our great Constitution, gun owners are continually besieged by those looking to dis-empower good American citizens. As gun owners, we must be ever vigilant, constantly reminding our elected representatives that our Constitution guarantees our right to bear arms — and guarantees our right to choose the firearms and accessories we deem necessary to defend ourselves, defend our democratic way of life, and defend our right to use firearms for sport, collecting, and hobby. The only way for us to protect the Second Amendment is to be engaged in our nation’s democratic process. We must be well-educated in the legal history of American gun ownership — like the unabashed support our Founding Fathers held for gun rights. We must stay up-to-date on current proposed legislation affecting gun ownership. We must contact our elected representatives regarding specific legislation. We must also occasionally remind our representatives of their sworn duty to uphold the Constitution. Finally, we must support and vote for candidates or existing representatives who have a proven track-record of upholding Second Amendment rights. Use the links below to get and stay active in protecting the right to bear arms — you’d be surprised how effective you can be by becoming a grassroots activist:

Bloomberg’s money loses to grassroots citizen activists on gun control in Nevada

Saturday, June 15th, 2013

Michael Bloomberg, mayor of New York City, billionaire, desiring to rewrite the constitution, and countrywide buttinski suffered a major “gun control” loss on Thursday in Nevada.

New York City’s mayor plays machine politics, thinking that his billions can be used to buy the hearts and minds of American citizens. Bloomberg is thinking top-down. He is “a founding member of the group” MAIG, so how could this group be a spontaneous offspring of concerned citizens? He’s paying mercenaries to pursue his own agenda, and the ethics of his money-pump are being investigated by Judicial Watch. He and his allies immediately concluded that the ricin-tainted letters sent to him were an effort to stop his anti-gun crusade, but the truth behind the story was that some pathetic has-been actress decided to throw a tantrum and frame her soon-to-be ex-husband. Bloomberg’s efforts are not grassroots, while the opposition to his recent Nevada campaign was grassroots.

The only dark side of 2nd Amendment proponents is its critics

Sunday, June 9th, 2013

A pregnant Texas actress who told FBI agents her husband had sent ricin-tainted letters to President Barack Obama and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been arrested for orchestrating the scheme herself, a law enforcement official said Friday. …

So there you have it. All the disparaging remarks about the “dark side of the pro-gun movement” were made by partisans jumping to conclusions, belying their disdain for good citizens who support the Second Amendment of our Constitution guaranteeing that “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Some pathetic has-been actress decided to throw a tantrum and smear her soon-to-be ex-husband, Nathaniel Richardson:
