The Hindu-Jewish Anti-Terrorism Coalition: One Million+ People on Inauguration Day

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

By Phyllis Chesler

Millions of people just marched in favor of Hamas terrorism; they roared and shouted out their hot hatred of Jews, Israel, and America. Their chants are beyond Nazi-like. They are far worse. Pro-Israel marchers were out in force too, fewer in number, but standing in non-violent dignity, without resorting to hate speech or thuggery.

The Hindu-Jewish-Buddhist-Christian coalition is planning a Conference call for their rally against terrorism to take place on Inauguration Day.

Here are some of their excellent banners and slogans. … (Continue reading…)

Hindu-Jewish Coalition Demands That America Stand Up To Islamic Terrorism

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

By Phyllis Chesler

Rally Planned in Washington, DC on January 20, 2009. … Hindus (yes, those who live in Bombay/Mumbai as well as all over the world), Jews, (yes, those who live in Israel and elsewhere around the world), Christians, and Buddhists are organizing a rally right opposite the White House on January 20th, the day of President-elect Obama’s Inauguration. This “Coalition for Peace” is urging Obama to “declare Pakistan a terrorist state; stop Iran from producing an atomic bomb; stop Saudi Arabia from funding terrorism; stop Pakistan’s double game with the USA; stop Hamas and Hezbollah’s rocket attacks into Israel; seize Saudi Arabian assets for crimes against humanity.” … (Continue reading…)

The Mumbai Atrocities: Where is the Outrage?

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

by Cinnamon Stillwell*

It was often said after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, that everything had changed. And for a few years afterwards, indeed it had. After decades of denial, America and its allies went on the offensive against Islamic terrorism, both militarily and morally. Most importantly, there was no hesitancy to name the enemy or to condemn his inhumanity.

But if the lack of outrage over the Islamic terrorist assault on Mumbai, India last month was any indication, everything has changed back.

CAIR’s Message of “Peace”

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

By Andrew Whitehead

Following the recent Islamic terrorist attacks on the Indian city of Mumbai, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called for an “interfaith exchange” between Indian Hindus and Muslims.

As usual, CAIR exploits another sensational terrorist event while they ignore daily acts of Islamic terrorism — over 100 Muslim terror attacks took place in November prior to the Mumbai rampage.

Still Asleep After Mumbai

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

by Daniel Pipes*

Victims caught in terrorist atrocities perpetrated for Islam typically experience fear, torture, horror, and murder, with sirens screaming, snipers positioning, and carnage in the streets. That was the case recently in Bombay (now called Mumbai), where some 195 people were murdered and 300 injured. But for the real target of Islamist terror, the world at large, the experience has become numbed, with apologetics and justification muting repulsion and shock.

If terrorism ranks among the cruelest and most inhumane forms of warfare, excruciating in its small-bore viciousness and intentional pain, Islamist terrorism has also become well-rehearsed political theater. Actors fulfill their scripted roles, then shuffle, soon forgotten, off the stage.

Defending Yourself Against Terrorism: A Difficult Task

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

By Barry Rubin

For years, India has been subjected to periodic terrorist attacks throughout the country. But what happened in Mumbai is something new and different: a full-scale terrorist war.

This is the kind of threat and problem Israel has been facing for decades. What are the lessons for India from Israel’s experience, points also reflected by India’s own recent history?

First, India needs and has the right to expect international sympathy and help. It will get sympathy but will it get help? Once it is clear that other countries must actually do something, incur some costs, possibly take some risks, everything changes.

India’s Options

Monday, December 8th, 2008

By Barry Rubin

India’s government faces difficult choices and no one should interfere in that hard process. Still, it is worth describing the alternatives New Delhi must ponder and what it might ask the rest of the world to do.

First, of course, no one should criticize India or draw conclusions too quickly. The Indian government will investigate and confer with friendly states. An official conclusion will be reached. Rumors and newspaper articles are not sufficient: the security and intelligence forces must examine the evidence; government must speak.

Reflections on the Mumbai Massacre: Will the real moderates please stand up

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

By Stan Cohen

It has only been days since the mindless slaughter of Mumbai, and our memory has started to fade. Yesterday’s headlines have diminished. The memory of the Twin Tower massacre has faded. The memory of the all-too-many-to-name bombings and killings in almost all parts of the civilized world have grown dimmer in our thoughts.

Because of our short memory, the next slaughter, the next massacre, is treated as a separate event, as a surprise, somehow disconnected from history. It is this disconnect from history that will lead to our doom.

A New 1 Minute Movie by Aish.com: Responding to Mumbai

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

A nice, inspirational short movie by Aish.com, reflecting on how a few evil terrorists can inflict so much damage, but how thousands of decent people could respond positively through love, lending a helping hand, and being charitable — as the Torah teaches us:

The Electronic Jihadist: A Brief Conversation With Dr. Nancy H. Kobrin

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

By Phyllis Chesler

One of my favorite people came by: Dr. Nancy Kobrin, with whom I have written articles (you may read some of them, here, here, here, and here) and whose work I adore. Dr. Nancy is an Arabist and psycho-analyst whose book about terrorism was once in press at Looseleaf Law, a publisher of law enforcement and counter-terrorism titles. At the last minute, the publisher rejected the work because he was honestly afraid that he would not be able to adequately protect his staff from bomb threats, riots, or lawsuits. How very fragile our political speech turns out to be! This happened long before the brou-ha-ha over the The Jewel of Medina. Whenever we’re together we mean to relax and to even engage in “small” talk — but we never do. Thus, here we are, talking, at our most relaxed. … (Continue reading…)

Saudi Cleric Issues Fatwa Against the “Brains” Behind the Muslim Massacre of Mumbai

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

By Phyllis Chesler

Just joking.

The Islamic terrorists keep telling us that their barbaric massacres and homicide bombings are being done in the name of Islam. Muslim organizations keep insisting that Islam is a religion of peace. Even as civilian blood cries out for justice, or for security, the intelligentsia warn us that Muslims and Islam are not the problem, that American foreign policy and Zionism are the real problem. The Western mainstream media refuse to take the barbarians at their word lest they be accused of “racism” or “Islamophobia.” … (Continue reading…)

The Importance of the Dawood Ibrahim Connection [to the Mumbai Attacks]

Monday, December 1st, 2008

By Douglas Farah*

As my colleague on the CT [Counterterrorism] Blog, Vic Comras noted, the name of Dawood Ibrahim is now associated with the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

Ibrahim reportedly provided the initial boat for the attackers, and has strong ties to al Qaeda.

India-Israel Economic Ties Strongest Ever, Despite Mumbai Attacks

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

By Andrew L. Jaffee

… Indo-Israeli business relations are on a roll. Bilateral trade is set to touch $3.3 billion this year, some 20% more than the previous year. India is emerging as one of Israel’s largest global trading partners. In Asia, India has overtaken China, and is placed after Hong Kong and Japan as far as trade with Israel is considered. …

The Economic Times, 11/29/2008

Perhaps one of the motives of this week’s terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India was to damage the burgeoning trade relationship between Israel and India. The two countries have much in common: they both won their independence from the British Empire in and around 1948; Israel and India are democracies; both have free market economic systems; the two countries have large, restive Muslim populations; and, both are surrounded by hostile Muslim neighbors. Remember that the Islamist terrorists, the Deccan Mujahideen, stormed, took control over, and killed all hostages (Israeli nationals) at the Chabad center in Mumbai this week. This cowardly attack may already have had an impact on Indo-Israeli economic relations:

Mumbai Terror attacks: Urban Jihad comes to India

Friday, November 28th, 2008

By Walid Phares*

As we write this short early assessment of the terror attacks in Mumbai, events are still unforlding in the financial capital of the sub Indian region. Counter Terrorism units are battling armed elements inside several buildings including the Taj Hotel where hostages have been seized, including foreigners. My first round of monitoring included a discussion with our colleague Animesh Roul who has also posted a report on CTB. I must credit a number of facts and assumptions to him including the projection that the perpetrators — although calling themselves Deccan Mujahideen — are in fact members or trained by Lashkar e Toiba/SIMI (who according to Animesh Roul now call themselves Indian Mujahideen). Here is the condensed report I discussed on Fox News, the BBC, Russia Today TV and other international outlets.

Islamists Kill Jewish Hostages in Mumbai

Friday, November 28th, 2008

By Andrew L. Jaffee

Can there be any question of the deep hatred Islamists bare towards Jews? On Wednesday, Islamist terrorists went on a rampage in Mumbai, India, killing at least 144, wounding approximately 300, and taking hostages. Today, as the standoff between Indian security forces and Islamists continued to unfold, it was revealed that the terrorists killed all their Jewish captives:

In Mumbai, Indian commandos who stormed the city’s Jewish centre have found five dead hostages. Initial reports say that three of the terrorists holding them hostage were also killed. All the dead hostages are reported to be Israeli nationals. …

But the carnage wasn’t limited to Jews:
