BDS against Israel fails in Minnesota; BDS is an overall failure

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

one boycotts totalitarian regimes, not democracies. One can boycott Sudan, guilty of the extermination of part of the population of Darfur. One can boycott China, guilty of massive violations of human rights in Tibet and elsewhere. One can and should boycott the Iran of Sakineh and Jafar Panahi, whose leaders have become deaf to the language of common sense and compromise. One can even imagine, as we once did with regard to the fascist generals’ Argentina or Brezhnev’s USSR, boycotting those Arab regimes whose citizens’ freedom of expression is forbidden and punished, if necessary, in blood. One does not boycott the only society in the Middle East where Arabs read a free press, demonstrate when they wish to do so, send freely elected representatives to parliament, and enjoy their rights as citizens.

Bernard-Henri Lévy, HuffPost News, January 25, 2011

The Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions or “BDS” movement has once again failed to affect Israeli policies in order to “help” the “Palestinian” cause — another failure in a long line of failures. BDS’ latest setback known to me just took place in Minnesota:

American Bilingualism and Globalization

Saturday, April 7th, 2012

By Jessica Vaughan, CIS.org

“Speaking two languages rather than just one has obvious practical benefits in an increasingly globalized world” is the insipid platitude that begins an article flatly asserting that “Being bilingual, it turns out, makes you smarter.” What does one have to do with the other? Nothing that is immediately obvious.

If speaking another language is desirable on the basis of living in a globalized world, then becoming smarter is an added benefit. If becoming smarter is the real benefit, that would appear to be its own reward whether the world is globalized or not. But perhaps the author meant to say that learning a second language makes you smarter, which then makes you better able to compete and prosper in a globalized world. Or whatever.

A Time of Miracles

Friday, April 6th, 2012

by Phyllis Chesler

We are living at a time in history when the demonization of the Jews and of the Jewish state has become a fait accompli. The Big Lies have been internationalized and legalized; the poisonous propaganda has begun its real work as Jewish blood flows in the streets and the world’s heart remains indifferent or worse—joyous.

But, we are also living in an era of unending miracles.

Remember when five Arab armies attacked the tiny Jewish state—and lost?

It’s Not Road Rage, It’s Terrorism

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

by Daniel Pipes*

On February 25, 1994, Baruch Goldstein, an Israeli doctor of American origins, went to the mosque at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, and murdered 29 Muslims with an automatic weapon before being overwhelmed and himself killed. This massacre prompted conspiracy theories and riots in Muslim circles, including accusations that the government of Israel stood behind Goldstein, an allegation that strenuous denunciations of his attack by the Israeli government did not fully deflect.

UCLA Honors Sharia Apologist Khaled Abou El Fadl

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

by Cinnamon Stillwell and Judith Greblya*

Academic self-congratulation reached new heights at the University of California, Los Angeles on March 21, 2012, with “An Event Honoring Professor Khaled Abou El Fadl.” Abou El Fadl—Omar and Azmeralda Alfi Distinguished Professor in Islamic Law and chair of the Islamic Studies Interdepartmental Program at UCLA—was feted by the UCLA Center for Near Eastern Studies, the UCLA School of Law Journal of Near Eastern and Islamic Law, the UCLA School of Law Muslim Law Students Association, and the UCLA School of Law Critical Race Studies Program. Eighty students, professors, and community members gathered to commemorate “the world’s leading authority on Islamic law and Islam, and the prominent scholar in the field of human rights,” according to the event description. In reality, Fadl is an apologist for radical Islam who routinely denies valid concerns over the human rights abuses inherent to Sharia (Islamic) law while charging its critics with “Islamophobia.”

NBC, Sharpton, Jackson, Obama, Holder, Lee, et al, stoke racist flames

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

“This is what you deserve. You get what you deserve, white boy.” This is what two Kansas City black teens told a younger white child. The black kids poured gasoline on the white kid and set him on fire a month ago (see here also). Did you even know this happened? Do you remember the 2007, big “Jena 6″ lie in which six black teens beat up a white kid in Jena, Louisiana, and Al Sharpton hailed it as “the start of the 21st century civil rights movement.” The white teen who was assaulted in 2006 had nothing to do with the hoo-ha. Some 18,000 “protesters” swarmed Jena demanding that the black teens, the so-called “Jena 6,” be released from custody — for beating up an innocent bystander. Now we have the story of the death of Trayvon Martin, edited by NBC to sound like a racist crime, but which is in fact just an incident report. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, and Spike Lee are unethically throwing gasoline on a fire — incident — that no one knows who ignited. Again we have political correctness gone mad. Basically, blood libel.

NBC sprayed race-card gasoline when it creatively edited the transcripts of the 911 call regarding the death of Trayvon Martin (see here also):

On Massacres and Motivations

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

by Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi*

Commenting on the recent massacre of 17 Afghan civilians that was allegedly carried out by Staff Sergeant Robert Bales, Glenn Greenwald, a leading pundit on the American political left, wrote the following:

There is, quite obviously, a desperate need to believe that when an American engages in acts of violence of this type, there must be some underlying mental or emotional cause that makes it sensible, something other than an act of pure hatred or evil. When a Muslim engages in acts of violence against Americans, there is an equally desperate need to believe the opposite: that this is yet another manifestation of inscrutable hatred and evil, and any discussion of any other causes must be prohibited and ignored.

This is a typical example of how Greenwald engages in overblown rhetoric. To take just a couple of examples that refute his inaccurate generalizations here, no one attempted to rationalize the Mahmudiyah killings in 2006, which involved the massacre of an Iraqi family — including the gang rape and killing of a 14-year old girl — by some U.S. soldiers from the 502nd Infantry Regiment.

Western Survival Depends on Western Pride

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

by David J. Rusin*

Claude Guéant, the French interior minister, sparked a firestorm last month when he praised Western values as “superior” to the oppressive ones found elsewhere, namely the Islamic world. Yet the controversy did more to spotlight an area in which the West clearly trails its rivals: self-confidence. If a government official cannot extol the unique virtues of freedom and equality that define Western life without being cast as a bigot by the politically correct, how can they be safeguarded against the highly motivated forces of Islamism, which doubt neither the superiority of their own principles nor the righteousness of imposing them on others?

When political correctness kills

Sunday, March 25th, 2012

by Adam Turner*

Starting on March 11 and ending on March 19, a terrorist wearing a motorcycle helmet that covered his face conducted a vicious killing spree in Toulouse, France, murdering three French military officers (two of Arab ancestry, one of Caribbean ancestry) and four French Jewish civilians (a 30-year-old Rabbi, his 5-year-old son, his 4-year-old son and an 8-year-old girl). Much speculation as to the possible motives and background of the terrorist followed. On March 21, 2012, the French armed forces surrounded an apartment in Toulouse where the killer lived and released his identity: It was a French Islamist named Mohammed Merah. On March 22, Merah was shot dead while jumping out of his apartment window

Ask Europe’s elite: Is Israel’s existence the cause of anti-Semitism and Islamic terrorism?

Sunday, March 25th, 2012

By Gary Gerofsky

Did you know that the murder of a Rabbi and children in Toulouse, the mutilation and killing of a Rabbi and his pregnant wife in Mumbai, the beheading of Daniel Pearl, and all wars and terror in the Middle East happened because Israel exists? Did you also know that Jews are responsible for anti-Semitism because, without Jews, there would be no cause for people to hate Jews? How’s that for reasoning?

CAIR: Supporting America…

Saturday, March 24th, 2012

by Andrew Whitehead

Since the founding of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the majority of non-Muslim citizens of the United States have been constantly accused of “Islamophobia” (a word created as a propaganda tool used by CAIR), “racism” (even though there is no such race as “Muslim”), and “intolerance” (a word used by many groups to describe those who disagree with them without using words of substance or evidence to back up their accusations).

TAKE ACTION NOW: Urge UN To Dismiss Official Whom Committed Libel Against Israel

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

A UN “media official,” one Khulood Badawi, paid by U.S. and European taxpayers, has blatantly spread lies about Israel. This “official” (liar and inciter of violence) tried to pawn off a photo on Twitter which showed a poor Palestinian girl allegedly injured in an Israeli airstrike, while in reality, the girl was hurt “by falling off a swing.” This picture, taken in 2006 by Reuters, had already been used to smear Israel, but Reuters retracted and apologized for this misinformation. The facts were uncovered by HonestReporting (here and here). Her UN agency’s, “own website espouses that ‘humanitarian actors must not take sides in hostilities or engage in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.’

TAKE ACTION NOW: Write to the UN and urge it to summarily dismiss Badawi. You can use this sample text: “Ms. Khulood Badawi must be immediately dismissed from employment at the UN. She has acted in an unethical manner, possibly inciting violence, and committed libel against the nation of Israel. She falsely tweeted an image of a 2006 Reuters photo of a Palestinian girl who died in a playground or car accident, not as a result of anything done by Israel. This type of conduct violates all professional and civilized standards. The UN, claiming to represent all world nations, must be held to the highest of standards.” But I urge you to use your own words and keep it civil. Click on this link to send your message:

EU Foreign Policy Chief Ashton: Enabler of Antisemitism and Radical Islam

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

Question: What enabled the slaughter of Jewish children and soldiers in the French city of Toulouse by a Muslim steeped in radical, victim-centric, warped Islamist ideology? Answer: People like EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton, an apologist for terrorist hate. She is the epitome of ignorant, bigoted, cowardly, politically correct, morally relativistic trash allowed by decadent, fearful Westerners to run amok at the top of their societies. This combination of a disconnected public and crazy political elite creates an atmosphere where lying bullies — Islamo-fascist-leftists — trample Western values, commit horrendous acts of ultra-violence, and shut down free speech. Meanwhile, people of conscience have to fight to even be heard, and sometimes fear for and lose their lives. This is the upside-down, Animal Farm-like world to which Westerners are acclimating. How could the depraved Ashton become EU Foreign Policy Chief? Just read about her — she’s lost her mind:

On the Islamophobia Train: The Rabbi and the Imam

Sunday, March 18th, 2012

by Phyllis Chesler and Fern Sidman

As Islamist terrorists are being arrested in Baku for a plot to attack both the American and Israeli Embassies; as Muslims torture, murder, and exile Christians from their native Arab lands; as Hamas constantly bombards Israeli civilians with rockets launched from Gaza; even as Iran is threatening to send many “caravans of tens of thousands” of hostile Iranians to march on Jerusalem—guess what subject drew 225 eager audience members and the media to an upper west side Jewish Community Center?

Concerned, informed citizens get Islamist whitewash, All-American Muslim, off the air

Thursday, March 8th, 2012

Americans are getting informed about the dangers Islamists pose to civilized societies — threats like stealth infiltration of Sharia (Islamic “law”) into our legal/social system, “honor” killings, homicide bombings, intolerance, support for terrorism… There are too many apologists for Islamist outrages amongst our university academe, primary and secondary educators, media elite, government officials, etc. But the blogsphere, activist organizations, and concerned citizens have learned about Islam, and are fighting back against political correctness gone mad (though we still have a long way to go). Thanks to the efforts of the Florida Family Association, The Learning Channel has pulled its shameless whitewash of Islam, a TV show called, “All-American Muslim,” off the air:
