In the film, the president makes a speech to business leaders in Chicago and faces a massive anti-war demonstration.

He is shot by a sniper as he leaves the venue and the investigation into his killing focuses on Syrian-born man.

This is being peddled as “entertainment” by a British TV network. Of course the producers rationalize it as “a pointed political examination of what the war on terror did to the American body politic.” I guess this is true — if you’re talking about the looney left-wing. Notice that, in this story line, Bush meets with those evil, capitalist “business leaders” — exceptions are made of course for the multi-million dollar Hollywood types like George Clooney (of Syriana).

The people that produce this crap would never create such a scenario starring Kofi Annan getting assassinated for inaction over the Darfur genocide, or ranting about Israeli disproportionality, or for doing absolutely nothing about Iran’s Ahmadinejad advocating genocide, etc.

This demented “creativity” is akin to what Oliver Wendell Holmes characterized as “crying fire in a crowded theatre.” Am I advocating censorship? Of course not. Play your pathetic “mockumentary.” But at least be balanced in your fantasies (like that’ll ever happen…).

Just what kind of person is Cindy Sheehan, besides being a mouthpiece for Islamist terrorism? She’s publicly taken an anti-war stance which is “resonating” with the enemy that kills American troops and lots of Shiite Iraqi civilians. Apparently, Cindy is dishonest, lazy, and/or a shady person. From the Houston Chronicle:

Police tracked down war protester Cindy Sheehan at a vigil near President Bush’s ranch for failing to pay a traffic ticket.

Officers from the Waco suburb of Woodway went to a roadblock near the ranch Tuesday night where Sheehan and other war protesters had gathered, said Sheehan’s spokeswoman Tiffany Burns.

A Woodway police spokeswoman said the officers told Sheehan there were two outstanding warrants for her arrest, one for an unpaid traffic ticket and the other for failure to appear in court. Sheehan was allowed to follow the officers to the station in her own vehicle, police said.

Burns said Sheehan paid the ticket and other fines totaling $400 and left. She was not handcuffed, fingerprinted or booked, Burns said.

In July, Sheehan was pulled over and cited for following too closely and later for failure to appear in court over the ticket, police said.

Ah, what a noble soul… My, what idols the Democrats have chosen. It fits right in with their anti-Semitic rhetoric at MoveOn.org.

Is the West racist toward Arabs and Muslims? In the United States, the answer is both no and yes. The United States is about the best place any Muslim, Christian or Jew can live. They can speak freely and worship freely. Despite the rhetoric of some groups that claim to represent American Muslims, there is very little discrimination. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s hate crimes report, in 2004, the last year for which statistics are available, there were 1,374 religious hate crimes. Of these, 954 were anti-Jewish, 95 anti-Christian and 156 anti-Muslim. All of these are still too many but, in a country of almost 300 million people, such figures underscore the safety of American society and the tolerance of the American public.

In the aftermath of Israel’s worst military defeat since the beginning of the creation of the modern Jewish state, we stand humiliated and denigrated in the eyes of the world. On the home front, their are calls for commissions of inquiry into the mismanagement of the war.

The media, reservists, the left wing and right wing are demanding the resignation of the Olmert government. The defense ministry is under attack as is the foreign ministry.

There is no question that Israel gained nothing and lost much in this recent military conflict in Lebanon. Hezbollah and its Syrian and Iranian sponsors are basking in glory as is the entire Arab world. As they celebrate their victory and the defeat of the “invincible” Israeli army, the global criticism and condemnations of Israel’s actions in Lebanon keep mounting at a furious pace.

If people would just open their ears and listen to the words of Palestinian terrorists, they might understand that the “Palestinian cause” is nothing other than a desire for murder and destruction. Here’s the Palestinian terrorist “rationality,” from the kidnappers of the two Fox News journalists released Sunday:

Two kidnapped FOX News journalists freed by gunmen last Sunday described in chilling detail how their abductors calmly discussed killing one of them.

“Unfortunately for you, you were with an American,” camerman Olaf Wiig said his captors told him. “A dangerous American… and we’re going to kill him,” referring to fellow hostage reporter Steve Centanni. …

Wiig said the kidnapper’s suggestion came during a conversation about Islam. “I told them, ‘I need you to tell me about it (Islam),’” Wiig said he told his captors. “They discussed how the problems of the Muslim world and the west could be solved if the west converted to Islam… then it got sinister,” he said.

“They believed he (Centanni) was CIA, FBI, an informer for the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces)… that he was there as a spy, an American soldier in Iraq,” Wiig said.

Convert the world to Islam… “then it got sinister?” Sssshhrrrriiiinnnnnggggg! Just where does the “sinister” part begin and/or end?

Palestinians have satellite TV and Internet access. They could’ve easily identified Centanni. The point is, their minds are clouded by pure, unadulterated hatred. Do I even need to point this out?

Unfortunately, we’ll continue to hear the usual rationalizations: “Oh, poor Palestinians. They’re so desperate. Poor things can only shoot thousands of missiles at Israeli civilians and kidnap unarmed journalists.” And have most of the Arab/Muslim world cheering them on…

Do we have another case of “sudden jihad syndrome,” this time in San Francisco? Omeed Aziz Popal, recently returned from Afghanistan, went on a road-rage rampage through the streets of San Francisco, killing 1 person and leaving at least 14 injured. This very intentional, homicidal act ended near a Jewish community center. Officer.com notes that the suspect was “apparently rational and unrepentant.” At least the California governor’s head is clear:

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called the spree “a malicious and hateful act” in a statement issued this evening.

“I want to commend authorities for working diligently to identify and arrest the motorist. Acts of hate such as this will not be tolerated in California. Maria and I send our condolences to the family of the fatally injured victim. Our prayers are also with those who were critically injured and we wish them a speedy recovery,” he said.

We do not personally care for Tom Lantos because of his left-leaning political positions and would probably vote against him. This, however, is how MoveOn Action Forum participants disagree with a legislator: by calling him a “whining, arrogant Jew” and accusing “Jews/Zionists in our Congress” of “using the U.S. for their own greedy purposes.” While this was posted by an individual, MoveOn.org’s moderators can make posts that they find unacceptable vanish and, furthermore, 84% of MoveOn.org participants agree that Lantos is a “whining, arrogant Jew.”

While often ignored in the Western media, human rights abuses in the Islamic world are a daily occurrence. Both Muslim states and ad hoc religious courts order mutilation and execution, not only of criminals but also of individuals—mainly women—who have not committed anything which would be considered a crime in other societies. In some cases, Shari‘a (Islamic law) tribunals issue death sentences for those acquitted in regular courts.[1] In other cases, religious leaders invoke religion to sanction non-Islamic practices such as honor killings and female genital mutilation.

Original Islamic jurisprudence, however, does not necessarily mandate such severe punishments. In the early twentieth century, it even seemed that the introduction of modern legal codes in Muslim majority countries might ameliorate regular Shari‘a punishments, but in recent decades, traditionalists have pushed a back-to-basics program which has augmented application of Shari‘a punishment. Rather than modifying Islamic practice, many self-described Islamist reformers make matters worse by advocating retrenchment rather than reform.

Two days after British authorities broke up an alleged plot to blow up multiple aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean, the “moderate” Muslim establishment in Britain published an aggressive open letter to Prime Minister Tony Blair.

It suggested that Mr. Blair could better fight terrorism if he recognized that the current British government policy, especially on “the debacle of Iraq,” provides “ammunition to extremists.” The letter writers demanded that the prime minister change his foreign policy to “make us all safer.” One prominent signatory, the Labour member of Parliament Sadiq Khan, added that Mr. Blair’s reluctance to criticize Israel increased the pool of people whom terrorists can recruit.

From where did Al-Qaeda come? While its actions are well known, its intellectual origins are not. Many scholars and analysts depict the group as a new phenomenon. They cite its international recruitment, its message of global jihad, its lack of a clear chain-of-command, and its use of the Internet as both an operational and informative tool. While the group’s amorphousness makes it threatening and unpredictable, neither Osama bin Laden’s operative modes nor his ideology are cloaked in mystery. Rather, they are a synthesis of two interlinked and equally important sources of influence: first, the teachings of ‘Abdallah ‘Azzam, the leader of the Afghan mujahideen during the 1980s; and second, the Saudi opposition movement which arose in the early 1990s and sought to Islamize Saudi society in response to a perceived Western “cultural attack” on the Muslim world.

On October 22, 2005, the France 2 television talk show Tout le Monde en Parle aired an interview with writer Salman Rushdie and French actor and Islamist Sami Nacéri. Left on the cutting room floor was an ugly incident during taping when Nacéri accused Rushdie of debasing Islam. If an imam asked him to kill Rushdie, Nacéri went on, he would himself shoot the bullet into Rushdie’s head. He then pantomimed firing a gun at Rushdie.

Philippe Val, editor of the French left-wing weekly Charlie Hebdo, described the omitted segment in the November 2 issue of the magazine. French reaction was minimal. While some journalists debated whether celebrities made appropriate commentators, there was little discussion of France 2’s decision to delete the offending segment.

A “Pew Global Attitudes Survey, which included over-samples of Muslims in four European countries” provides some surprising insights into the beliefs of European, especially French, Muslims — including positive feelings towards Jews. Here are some excerpts, but you should read the entire article:

…Also, like the great majority of Muslims in Great Britain and Spain (though less so in Germany) French Muslim sympathies in the Middle East lie with the Palestinians rather than with Israel. However, nearly two-in-three French Muslims (65%) worry about extremism among Muslims — as do even more (70%) of British Muslims. And, like Muslims elsewhere in Europe only a tiny minority of French Muslims (16%) say that suicide bombings and other violence against civilian targets in defense of Islam can often or sometimes be justified. …

French Muslims depart company with others of their faith both in Europe and in the Muslim world. For example, French Muslims are evenly split on the question of the effect of the victory by the radical group Hamas in this year’s Palestinian election, with 44% saying it was good for Palestinians and 46% judging it bad. By comparison, British Muslims weighed in lopsidedly on the positive side (56% ‘good’ vs. 18% ‘bad’) as did Spanish Muslims (57% vs. 22%).

Moreover, joined only by German Muslims in Europe, the French are heavily opposed (71%) to the acquisition of nuclear weapons by Iran. British Muslims, in contrast, are evenly split on the subject.

And while the majority of Muslims in all four European countries surveyed say they have little or no confidence in Osama bin Laden, French Muslims are virtually unanimous (93%) in their disdain. (By comparison, 68% of British Muslims submit a vote of no confidence in the Al Qaeda leader.)

Most striking, however, is the difference between the views that French Muslims hold about people of other faiths and the views held by Muslims elsewhere in Europe and in predominantly Muslim countries. French Muslims even top the general publics in the United States and France in favorable ratings of Christians (91% of French Muslims vs. 88% of Americans and 87% of the French take that view).

But what most distinguishes French Muslims from their co-religionists not only in the Muslim world but in Europe, is their attitude toward Jews. Fully 71% of French Muslims express a positive view of people of the Jewish faith, compared with only 38% of German Muslims, 32% of British Muslims, 28% of Spanish Muslims and still lower numbers in the predominantly Muslim countries surveyed. In this, Muslims reflect the view of the larger French public among whom fully 86% express a favorable opinion of Jews, a higher proportion than even than among the American public. …
